Thread: New PowerArc 200

  1. Cool New PowerArc 200

After recieving my little power arc 200 I have to say that I am very impressed. After bring out of work for way too long I finally decided to go back to school. I have been welding on a Miller Diliaarc 200 at school and I have to say that it is a nice welder but from my experience it just does not run 5P+ (6010) very well and my instructor totally agrees with me.

I recieved my PA200 on a Thursday morning and had the oppertunity to play with it for the weekend and the follwing monday I took it to school with me and I have to say that I had a hard time prying my teacher away from it.

In the $350.00 dollar price range there just is not much out there that can compare to this welder and my Teacher did like the way that htis welder worked with the 5P+. He went as far as welding with every type of electrode that they have at the school that a DC welded can use and he was impressed. Granted I can't lay as pritty of a weld as he can but I was rather impressed whit what he could do with this welder. It even welds aluminum fairly nicely when in the hands of a pro.

Granted I will not be finished with school intil December of 2012 but that is only because one class that was held this semester that I need was full so I have to wait untill fall 2012 to take it. But I have allready passed my bend tests on 3/8 plate with an open v grove. I did that at me 8 week mark and every one else is only just now starting to get to that point with about 2 1/2 weeks left in this semester. I have even taken some test coupons in that I welded here at home with my PA200 and they all passed save one set where I let them cool too quickly and it caused them to be brittle.

The PA200 is a wonderful welder and I love it. I just wish that it came with longer leads. Asside from that and the fact that I cant stand the Stinger that it came with it is money well spent. Eventoually I will make a video or 2 with it and get them posted on youtube.

If you dont have a lot of money or are restricted on space this little welder is well worth it. Don't hesitate in buying this welder. You will not regret your choice.

    Tasha,
Thanks for telling people what so many are finding out. The PA 200 is as good of stick welder as they come. i've been trying to get everyone in Everlast on board with these stick units. Its where we can gain a lot of respect and enter the mainstream market, if they were promoted as well as the TIGS. Reliability has been excellent. (My vote has been to push the stick and MIG units...all perform well as anything for their price). Your leads can be easily lengthened, and about 12 bucks will fix your stinger (new one).

I'd really like to see some video on these, especially the mig welders.

I have a PA 200 and have been telling people for sometime, it is the best thing out there since the invention of sliced bread, many pro's with much better experience and skills than I have seem to agree, it's the best bang for the buck out there, every noobie who wants to weld should have one and they are affordable.

An autodark helmet, a PA 200, a few rods and you are welding, add in a genset like Sean Murphey and you are portable welding, all for a very reasonable price, how can you beat that.
Some of those lies people tell about me, are true

Is the PA 300 available now, or soon to be announced? Any specs?
