Thread: Project 4 from bobwills- Skid loader log splitter

  1. Default Project 4 from bobwills- Skid loader log splitter

This next project is one my cousin wants to do for splitting firewood. It might not be started for a while but not sure. But its a splitting that goes on the front of one of our skid loaders. Its not the kind that you have to pick the logs upp then split them from the ground. Just using the hydraulics to power it. This one is for big logs that you pic them up with it and raise it over a trailer or dump truck then it will split it to many pieces. Mainly for bigger logs. Not sure how all it will work yet. Thats for him to figure out cause hes the engineer but im gonna be doing the welding and Fabbing of it. It might just be kind of a trial and error kind of thing. Not sure much more about it yet other than that.

You mean like the Lickity Splitter?

Looking forward to actually seeing the build on this.

Well i would like to have that thing but not really. Wish we could build that cause it would be so awesome. But my idea is more of just this box like the bottom part of it. Except it is to where the the logs will be laying on the ground and you just go up to it and then hit the foot pettle and the piece over pushing the log through the wedge but not sure yet. A lot of thinking has to go into a project like this.

    That thing is pretty slick!

Notice teh splitting "wedges" that are tapered inward toward the center. That is sort of what I was referring to in the post about the splitting wedge. It's amazing what some of those firewood choppers / splitters can do.

I know its petty awesome. But we wont make one that fancy. Wish we could though. Be too expensive to do though. And our loaders aint got enough controles to be able to control all them different things on it. Or maybe it just uses the normal ones all of them have and runs more controls buck to the loader. I dont know. But i would LOVE to have that thing. Or this would be awesome too
