Thread: Project 2, from scootarida1, intercooler splitter

Default Project 2, from scootarida1, intercooler splitter

Here is a splitter I made for my larger top mount intercooler:

I made it from a sheet of metal from lowes, I think it was either 16gauge or 18 guage sheet metal. Also to bend the pieces, i made a quick sheet metal brake. And to make the holes, i found a socket that fit inside of another socket and just drilled a hole and set up the sockets and hammered them together to make a dimpled hole.

Also to make a seal against the intercooler, I used this seal from mcmaster.com

its the edge grip seal number 1 i forget what size but it does a great job with the sealer and i found it helps to make the pieces in cardboard first

Thanks for the link on the mcmaster carr rubber seals!

I've had times I've wanted to get some more of this type of material for projects, but had no source, or even known how to search for it. "edge grip seal" and "bulb seal"... who'da thunk it!

PS - nice job on the intercooler ambient air baffles

Haha yeah I must have searched for days or even weeks for some sort of material to use. Mcmaster has pretty much everything youll ever need so its a great source for when you need any sort of hardware. And thanks i want to put a middle splitter to separate the air so it cools the intercooler more efficiently but it is cold to touch after driving the way it is now
