Anyone know of a decent torch with.....

a button on it that will work with the 250ex?. I've gotten pretty good at controlling the heat using 4t and pulsing the torch into and out of the pre amp and post amp , but I'm looking for a torch that's a bit less cumbersome and more ergonomic.

I would love a CK200 and may scab on a button but don't want to if I don't have to. I don't have to have a CK but anything a little less bulky would be nice. If it comes down to it I'll do the conversion above and add a button. just thought there may be someone out there that knows of a nice torch with a button on it. not looking for amp control just a button so I can fire the thing off and tap-a-tap-tap as I go. although I wouldn't be opposed to amp control either as long as it was usable for he way I hold the torch.

If you are in good with the people at your local harbor freight they have a nice looking binzel tig torch that comes with one of their higher end welders. It's the inverter model and the torch does not get packaged with the welder, it is packed in it's own box and supposed to be sold with the welder. It is an air cooled torch though. If you are in good with them you might see if they can order you one seperately or sell one off the shelf. I used a torch switch like this:

Zip tie it (with plastic, non-conductive zip ties) onto the handle of your aftermarket torch handle, and you can position it on the handle right where it's most useful for you. Wire it (with flexible/multi-stranded 20 gauge wire) along your TIG torch leads, to an appropriate connector that will fit your machine. It's really a useful switch shape - easy to actuate with a wide variety of grips on the handle.

Have you looked at the WP20? I use the 18 and 20, depending on the work. I think the 17 is a flex head. You can call Ca and check the stock on them, but I like the size and weight of the WP20 we sell.

I have the wp20 from everlast and it isn't a bad torch, but much cheaper quality than a weldcraft or the like. you must be using a water cooler with it though as the power cables will heat up even at low amperages without water. I just use mine for when i absolutely need a small torch. Otherwise I've grown fond of the one that came with the welder

I took a look at the Weldfabluous site and it looks like the prices are pretty good. I have dealt with Arczone and they are pretty good but expensive. There is another outfit in Chicago that offers free shipping for orders over 50 bucks. My purchase from them was 52 bucks and they still tacked on a shipping charge.

I might be old fashioned but I prefer to deal with someone face to face if it all possible. In this online world, I prefer to deal with someone who has a hard physical address that I can visit even though they might be in "tim buck two". These outlets might have an 800 number but the fax number isn't usually.

Since I have all the connectors, all I need are gas and rod with an occaisional purchase of some other item. I prefer to deal with airgas. We have Praxair is this area and Matheson also. Matheson tells you that they are giving you a deal on gas when the two others charge 10 bucks less for the same tank of gas. There are two Airgas outlets in this area and they are very polite and professional.

Oh by the way, I use 1/4" brass air compressor fittings for my water hookups. The water pressure is about 50 pounds, and they don't leak. There are several pictures here on cooler hookups and all thier fittings are nice and expensive also.

Woot, you're my hero. Overlooked this somehow the first time around. Just ordered 3 of them from ebay and will be picking up a couple of CK torches. One (air cooled for light duty ) Not sure on the model and a 200 rigid neck for sustained work.

why is this not up on the site? looks like a nice torch but I think I'll go with the CK only cause it's less of a hassle and easier to find. I'll put my own switch on it.

I just discovered that Arczone is selling a Q5W dinse connector for about fifty bucks. The price is about the lowest that you will find for one. I also noticed that they like to bundle conectors and fittings into kits and charge way too much for them.
