Yeah, the cannon works. I use flash powder and a fuse. The barrel was turned on a wood lathe from 1" brass stock and drilled 3/8" for the bore (same as 38 caliber.

I am working on my new cannon (pics of my 4" bore cannon are posted on this forum). The new one will fire bowling balls for projectiles. It's barrel will be an old oxygen cylinder. I plan to model it after the mountain Howitzer of the civil war. A guy on Millers Forum (the Blue guys) built a bowling ball mortar from an old oxygen cylinder.
I will get some pictures up soon.

Wow, How much powder will it take to launch a bowling ball. Gotta see that!! Maybe you should encase it in cement

My 4" takes 1/4 lb. FFG blackpowder.

The bowling ball will take from 1/3 to 1/2 lb. It won't be cheap to shoot for sure.

What size pipe would be right for a tennis ball? I'm thinking drill a 1" hole in it and funnel in some thin cement.
