I don't know...yet. Usually, there are fan differences and some component differences that usually run off of 220V, are converted to 12V to run dual voltage. The way out dual voltage units work can better be described by Mike or Ray.
Basic design though is the same. I don't think its the transformers though, rather the rectifiers.

That's interesting...
Most dual voltage products use the transformer to adjust the input voltage to a value needed by the power supply.
Maybe Mike or Ray can post up some details on what the difference is between the 2 input voltage options.
