Grinding Disks and Flapper Disks on Sale

It seems like a good price and free shipping to boot. I ordered a dozen to try. All the guys on Pirate reported the disks are high quality and very durable; and half the price of the LWS.

I've tried to lurk there, and I just don't get it. That website is like zappa music, you have to wade through 45 minutes of crap to find a 5 second riff of pure brilliance.
I have a ZR2 Blazer so i hang at ZR2usa.com for 4x4info. It's ZR2 specific, and not a lot of gossip/whining. BUT; I am ordering the disks....

Pirate is an great site, but it is also HUGE with many many members. The search button is your friend on that site, the wealth of knowledge available to you via that forum is almost endless. It spans the whole US with its members and people on it come from all trades and skill sets. If you have a technical question on a 4x4 matter you will most likely get the answer from a pirate member.

Another bonus comes when you become a paid member and get the discounts from the vendors. (you don't have to be a paid member to get most of them but a few won't give the discount without membership)

If any of my grinders had a 7/8" arbor I would buy a bunch of those. Why can't the 5/8" arbor be on sale also.

FYI - harbor freight has the blue zirconia, 40, 60, and 80 grit flap discs going for the same price when they're not on sale ($6 per 2/pack = $3 / each.)

I've tried the harbor freight flap disks and I did not like them one bit they seemed to wear out rather quickly compared to name brands.

Recieved my order in time to use them this weekend, I must say they are some of the better flap wheels I have bought and at $3 ea its even better. I bought 10 this time but may decide to get more. They don't give a brand name on the site when you order them but mine were Mercer that I got.

I'll be interested in comparing notes. I just bought a pair of the HF 80 grit zirconia flap wheels, at $5 for a package of two. Would like to test it against my Pferd (made in germany) 80 grit zirconia flap wheel sometime, when time allows.

for a 5/8"" arbor they make a fix for that Lowe's has a kit that spins on to convert to 7/8" I think it cost like $6 well worth it

Hey ryan, Not to be a know-it all (I leave that to my brother) but I just went out and checked my porter cable 4-1/2 grinder, I have discs with both hole sizes. the 7/8 fit the same step in the wheel adaptor that using hard discs does. I don't know what your setup is, but you might want to take a look. I did so i can give these a try. Just tried out a $6.49 norton 36 grit and it only lasted a couple minutes of medium light grinding-what a gyp! Hope these are better. Thanks for the tip.

I order a few last week and they showed up darn fast. I have only used the dewalt flap disks a hand full of times to strip paint off a boat. I had some 3/16 scrap that had been painted so I put the flap dish in and gave it a spin - my flap disk skills must suck cause all I was able to do was polish the edges...they didnt really seem to want to bite. If I worked right with the edge of the disk it worked better but then it buggered up pretty quick. Went back the the grinding wheel and got the metal all nice and shiny and cut up for some tests with my new 250 ex that should be here this week

Flap discs prefer a different angle than grinding discs. I get better results with flap discs by using a steeper pad angle.
