Thanks for asking this question Zoomie, I wanted to ask Oleg myself but after yesterday (I'm an Idiot long story) I didn't want to bug Oleg again for a while LOL.
I have a 250ex on order, or will have when my check is in Oleg's hands. I really can't afford a water cooler but I would like to see a bunch of pictures and a review when you get yours if you wouldn't mind. I will probably make my own cooler once I have played around with my welder for a bit. I have an unused aluminum radiator ( 8 x 10 in ) that I was thinking would be easy to convert to a cooler with a reservoir tank/sight glass of some kinda and a pump in an aluminum enclosure.
Don,
I'll try to oblige. If you don't see anything from me a week or 2 after delivery dates ping me via PM.
I would also like to see a review of the cooler as I may need one in the future since I may get to welding 3/8" aluminum. I think most of it will be around 1/4" though. Also any chance on the ship date for the PowerPro256's?
The last of the 250Ex units will be finished testing today and then the the 256 and 205 are next ad the order should be completed by Sunday ( long day on sunday for me finishing testing ) and they are due tobe shipped next week
Cheers
Titan,
Do the PowerCool W300's ship with or from the same place as the welders you speak of?
the coolers are finished here with case etc and the shipped with the rest of the products so they arrive the same time.
cheers
I guess i spend too much time at the Manufactuing plant lately . Just read my post and it may lead people to think they are assembled inhouse by us, what i meant when saying " here" is the Factory assembles and ships out with each order.
I think it is time for me to come home when i start talking like i am part of Factory it means i have been here too long.
Another week and i am out of here for a while .
Duncan,
What, no Chinglish yet?
I will tell you i absolutely refuse to talk to people using some sort of broken English . I would rather choose my sentences in such a way as to be understood rather than talk to somoene like they where a idiot.
Sometimes it takes a little longer to be understood but then again there have been many times i have wanted a simple yes or no answer and his generally takes 5 mins to be told yes. So it is not a big deal if i have restucture my sentences a couple of times so as to get my point across.
Although to be honest i really do not have the heart to tell them about the Sentence in all our user manuals about the "Erection" . This is in part due to the fact the Factory Owner penned the phrase for the manuals and he is very proud of this fact.
Have you tried Google translate? When I was over there [Shanghai and Bejing], my sprint cell service didn't work but somehow my internet connection on the treo was always there, and super fast. I have no idea why. Google translate works pretty well and uses the same words the do, but now they are in print.
Another key to understanding them is to imagine them is an old western or victorian movie. They will tend to say things such as 'erection' when speaking of constructing a bridge or building, and 'hoary' for talkative or gray haired, and 'intercourse' for having a conversation. If you've seen the new version of 'True Grit' at the movies, just think of that sort of syntax, and your comprehension will go up 90%.
So them saying 'The hoary woman and I were having a great intercourse concerning erection.' means; 'I was speaking with a gray haired woman about the construction.'.
My droid EVO is great at the translation thing.
I recieved my 250 EX in early Febuary. Came right on scheduel. Still waiting on my W300, my Power Power Plasma 50 and a couple welding carts. The 250 is working awsome! Welds like a champ, well as well as my limited experience will let it weld. Cant wait for the rest to get here!
Actually as far as the Factory is concerned i am from Canada, In actuall fact i am English and i tend to be somewhat formal in discussing business . I do not correct the assumption of me not being Canadian as the Chinese have a great deal of respect for Canadians and in fact there Elimentary school corriculum includes a Canadian Doctor that dedicated his life to helping the Chines some 70 years ago.Even Chairman Mau has written on this subject . I see it all the time when travelling , If i say i am from Canada there whole attitude transforms to one of delight and wanting to do what they can to help me.
As for the Hoary Women , It would seem i tend to have a number of discussions with more Horney Women . This is in part due to the fact that i believe it is only right to treat a Woman as a lady and i have never really been comfortable with having one of these young lady's wait on me or open car doors for me , i tend to prefer to do this for them and i feel uncomfortable having them do this type of thing for me , And of course i must confess i am a bit of a Flirt with the opposite sex . At least this is what my wife keeps telling me. I have been travelling to China for about 5 years now and i have to confess most of the good friends i have are all women ( i have a few drinking buddy's but they are just out on the town for the night and getting the lady's at the KTV type thing) They are nice enough guys and i meet up with them when i am in Ningbo .
One interesting thing i did see on this last visit which i have to admit surprised me somewhat ,was most of the Workers assumed i was a American , this is of course because i was testing and keeping a eye on quality for all the orders as they where being mostly built at the same time. When it was realised that i was in fact from Canada i had a feeling that i was getting a far better level of co-operation and a stronger desire to do things better . It is hard to actually say it in words as it was more a look on peoples faces and a attitude to want to do more and just take that little more time to make sure they do not screw up .
A lot of the chinese in the Factory have picked up a new saying lately.
If i screw up or am not happy with something i have done i tend to say things like.
Oh Bugger . or Bugger me. I have noticed this being said by a number of the workers over the last week or so.
I am back in Canada now and after reveiwing the last three weeksand my final discussions with the factory before i left i have to say that i am very pleased with the direction we are taking to maintain and improve our product line . and although it can be difficult at times to be away from home for such long periods ( so far this year i have spent more time in China than Canada )
It is neccesary to work closely and make sure you get what you want in a product with the level of quality you expect to see.
One bright point for me was when saying my good byes to the Owner he thanked me for being there and helping with Quality as he says it not only helps us for our Weldes but it also helps him for overall quality of his Factory.
Over the next 12 months we will be seeing some changes implemented in regards to the QC Department and i hope to see the new training program in place when i am back for my next order in 6-7 weeks.
hopefully it will only be my order being built this time as it is a lot of long hours when Aus/ Can / USA are being done at the same time.
Titan,
Any updates on shipment etc?
The US shipment should be arriving in approximately 2.5 weeks.
hmm now it sounds like we are into the first week of April, then a week or so for UPS to have there way with it... Might have to bite the bullet and spend 300$ more and get a Diversion 180
I am patiently waiting.
I don't think our reps, nor my fellow purchasers should put much weight on the impatient among us. It is a dauntingly HUGE task to do what the EVERLAST reps are doing to get the goods. ANYONE could hurry through an inspection, let someone else do it, skip it because there wasn't a problem with the last batch...it takes a truly dedicated group to push back a date because it's the right thing to do.
You guys at EVERLAST tell me when you think they are ready, and I'll patiently wait until you think those green machines are ripe enough to ship.
Sour grapes, low hanging fruit, tortoise and hare, grasshopper and ants...some of the impatient amongst us seem to have missed the valuable life lessons.
That is kind of disapointing to hear that when I was told at the time I paid on Feb 3, it would be aproximatley 4 weeks now it's looking like it's gonna be doubling that plus some. I believe when you tell a customer a number you should be confident in it not a maybe, If I was in there situation I would be telling the customers a longer than expected time so its there at least by that time and if its early the customer is gonna be even happier.
No hard feelings I hope just had to voice my opinion.
RYAN,
We have been very clear here on this board, that any times are estimations...There are manufacturing schedules and shipping schedules that get pushed back from time to time...There are things we can't help. Going back to our last shipment, we discussed this very clearly. Its a fact of dealing internationally.
I am not too concerned with the delivery time frame on mine I have plenty of other projects and things I can occupy my self with. I am good with this knowing how much money I am saving and still getting a high quality unit. If I was running a business or needed the welder pronto I would have gone somewhere, where what I needed was stocked and paid through the nose for the instant gratification. I can wait LOL. The guys at Everlast sound like they are doing their best to keep us informed. afaik not many people can rush anything through customs short of the government, ships hit rough seas and QC takes time. it all adds up.
Relax and let your mind explore the potential it has for patience ....... hahahaha I wrote that and after reading it it sounds stupid as hell. yep I'm a weird one
Back on the 22nd Oleg was vary firm on the 3 week time frame as well. Then I have to find out on a web site that I am now looking at almost 6 weeks.
agreed.
after doing just a smidge of research, it was obvious that the delievery times are never 100%, the guys here just try and give us theyre best estimate.
its to be expected with things of this nature, and the frieght shipping and customs stuff thats invlolved.
hell, when i ordered some "japan only" front end parts for my celica years back, i waited 8 months for one foglight! and thats thru toyota!
i feel like alex and crew do theyre best to use this forum to help keep those of us that are waiting informed with what they believe to be honest and accurate information.
The ship will come into dock a few blocks from the Home office in San Francisco... Keep in mind, this is not a one stop direct ship from coast to coast. There are ports along the route picking up and dropping off. The recent nuclear disaster in Japan may have the ship bouncing from a normal pattern as well, though I cannot say for sure.
