I just ordered my Everlast tig cooler and wanted to get the Weldcraft CS310 to go with it for my 325EXT. Does anyone know what I would need to buy in order to hook everything up? It looks like arc-zone sells B-size to quick disconnect water fittings (item #CK-QDWAP) as well as B-size to quick disconnect gas fittings (item #CK-QDGAP). I have the Everlast cart and from other posts that I've read, I'll need to get some extra water hose. What else would I need?

Depending on the torch package your ordered, you will need a DINSE connector to 7/8" left hand thread for the power. Not sure what gas and water ends Weldcraft comes with since they are now Miller. More than likely it will be 5/8" left and right for the feed water and gas. You will have to convert that to Everlast QC fittings for your cooler. I heard the new Everlast gas fitting are going to 5/8, but some are hose barb, so you might have to mix and match a little bit.
Thanks Rambozo, I did find a Dinse connector that I think will work at arc-zone (Item #MIL-195377). I've wondered many times about converting the QC fitting for the gas to a 5/8, it seems that most off the shelf torches have that fitting instead of the QC connector :(. Same with the cooler connections, why not 5/8? Absolutely love the welder, just the connectors I don't like.
It seems every company has played around with some kind of QC. I think it makes sense for air cooled. However, without sealing valves for both ends, it just doesn't make much sense for water cooled, a mess in the making. I like the gas through DINSE system, but even that is not very common. The 5/8" size is kinda jumbo for little machines, but it is something of a standard, at least in this country.
The gas fittings will remain the same on our torches. However, we do offer the CK 5/8 to quick connect coupler for gas and water. 20.00 for two left hand water couplers.
Plus you can find on our site, extenders too for lengthening water cooler cables and the like. Look under consumables then MISC...this will lead you to all the misc parts. If you don't find it there, some water cooler parts are under the water cooler tab. CK equipment is not listed.
Thanks for the info Mark, it looks like from the picture on the website that the water extender lines have the female connector attached on one end and the QC on the other, looks like that could solve two problems in one. I don't need the water couplers if I use the water extender lines right?

Thanks Kempy, I didn't realize I might have to trim back the rubber on the Dinse connector. I contacted arc-zone and Scott recommended the following:
"You should just get the CK Worldwide Dinse Plug (CK-SLWHAT-35), that one has a 6' side hose for the water return." and then he said that I'd need two of the QT water connectors and one of the QT gas connectors. I'll probably also get one of the extensions for the cold water line from Everlast.
I think that should do it :). The support on this forum is AWESOME, every time I have an issue or question you guys are always so willing to help out. Thanks again for everyone's support helping out a newbie :).

I also put color heat shrink on the ends and color tape also to match each fitting gas on the 325EXT I used yellow.

CK has that connector already with at least the gas Everlast QC fitting installed. I believe you used to just add QD to the part number, but a quick call to CK will confirm what the exact part number is. They might even be able to set you up with the QC water fittings pre-installed as well.Quote:

Sounds like you have mixed up the gas and water lines. Be sure to flush everything out with clean water then run plenty of dry air through to dry your hoses or you will have no end of contamination problems.Quote:

No paper sticker on the gas line, I got one blue hose and two black hoses. One black hose comes out of Dinse connector, which I connected to the "red" connector on the cooler. The blue hose I connected to the "blue" connector on the cooler, that one seemed straight forward. This is the torch that came with the machine.
I'll try the compressed air and see what I come up with.
I bet the particular torch you have used black for the water and blue for the argon, instead of the paper sticker. It's always best to double check the lines. That is one nice thing about threaded connectors, water is left hand thread while gas is right hand.Quote:

Depending on if you can swap them at the torch, you might want to do that, since your blue hose has been contaminated. Then you won't have to worry about getting the hose spotless. Just make sure you clean out the gas passages in the torch, while you have the hoses off. Plus then you will have a color match that makes more sense to you.
That's a GREAT idea. Having the blue line connected to the "blue" output on the cooler would certainly make sense to me. I'll see if I can switch them at the torch so in the future I won't be so confused :).
Blue line is not rated for that much pressure....different material too if it's the one I am thinking about. Don't swap.
Sorry, I'm used to older Weldcraft torches and hoses, and they use the same part number for the water feed hose and the argon hose. I guess these are different. Do you advise him to replace the argon hose to insure there is no contamination? Do you have a procedure for him to get it all cleaned out? I know where I used to work if that happened we would be required to toss that hose.Quote:

I ran straight coolant through it. You are correct, I saw the picture and saw a blue line and I ASSUMED incorrectly.
"ARGON GAS LINE SHOULD BE TAGGED AS “Ar”. IF NOT, TAKE DRY, COM-PRESSED AIR AND GENTLY BLOW THROUGH THE LINES TO DISCOVER WHICH LINE EXHAUSTS THROUGH THE TORCH OR THROUGH THE RE-TURN LINE. ON SOME TORCHES, THE WATER LINES ARE COLOR CODED: BLUE FOR COOL WATER SUPPLY AND RED FOR HOT WATER RETURN. COOLER FITTINGS SHOULD BE COLOR CODED BLUE AND RED AS WELL."
I think the above instructions are a little ambiguous. In my case, there was no tag marked "Ar" and I had a blue line, which above states that, "On some torches, the water lines are color coded: Blue for cool water supply". I did not go through the compressed air steps because I had a blue line. I am surprised this doesn't happen more often, all three hoses have the exact same connector, I would think I'm not the only one who looked at the diagram in the manual and thought, hey, I have a blue line, that must be the output because the fitting on the cooler is blue.
It might be helpful to place something in bold with an asterisk letting the user know that just because their torch might have a blue line, that doesn't mean it should be plugged into the blue cooler connector, just in case there are people out there that don't have the means to blow compressed air through it. Just my $0.02.
Anyway, it all seems to be working, I haven't tried to weld anything with it yet so I don't know how much of a contamination issue I'm going to have. How does one run water through the hoses to flush them out if the cooler already has coolant in it? Empty the cooler, fill it with water and mix up the hoses again to rinse out the gas line? What's the procedure for emptying the cooler, flip it upside down and drain it through the filler hole?

I agree it would be nice if they wouldn't use the exact same connector for the water as for the argon, but I understand that from a cost prospective they only want to stock one type of part.
For my 2ยข if it was me, I would just cobble up some kind of connection to a garden hose or even just hold it up to a tap with your hand. Run water through it until it comes out clear. Then do something similar with air at low pressure to dry it out. If you have moisture in the hose, and try to weld aluminum, you will know in a big hurry if you didn't get it dry enough.
I made that mistake once now I blow thru each line and listen for the one that I can hear air coming out of the torch end then I know that is the gas line. I put water thru for awhile and then put methanol (alcohol) to take out the water then blow air to dry up the alcohol and that was fast after a minute or so I could not smell the alcohol did a test weld and all was fine.
