Make sure you air is dry, also what pressure are you running at? Make sure the consumables are snug (not real tight).
The 60S unit is not HF start.
Is the arc cutting in and out or are you trying to cut and the arc is fluctuating somewhere between cutting amps and 22-27 amps? If it is the pilot arc is kicking in and out and you just don't have good contact with the work clamp or are holding a standoff too high. Did you download the manual online? What is your psi while the air is flowing?
I'm running 65psi. The piece of metal has surface rust, so maybe I had poor contact.
I'll try again today on clean metal. Distance to metal was about 1/8".
Did you read the manual?? You need 72 psi for best operation. It's listed online.
Where did you get the notion to regulate the pressure to 65psi? By converting the numbers given on the leaflet?Quote:

Air is 75psi.
Ironically I am having the same issue with my PP50, but only when I am at the 50 amp setting after about 10 seconds of cutting.
Air PSI is 75+, good ground, 5/8 mild steel 1/16 to 1/8 standoff. Not tripping the overload, and the problem goes away at 47 amps.
3 water separators/filters, Motorguard air filter/dryer, inlet pressure regulated at 85psi running (pressure drop from 90+ when trigger is pulled).

It sort of applies to this thread, but would have been better to start a new one as the PP60 and the PP50 use different torches. I run my PP50 about 65PSI and my PP60 I run at 72. Sounds like you have dry air, good flow, good ground. So I would experiment with the air pressure. Make sure consumables are good as well.Quote:

Actually, lowering the air pressure isn't the best idea for cutting. It can be done, but I have found that there is a better way and you will get better results... Downsizethe consumables for the amperage is a better way. The air pressure you cited is too much on the input side and on the operating side. You should be at 90 psi NO more on supply while static. Operating you should be no more than 73 or so (officially). You can buy smaller diameter holes for the PowerPlasma torch. The S-25 consumables will fit the S-45 and are designed for low amp cutting at the same air pressure.

My pp60s is at it again. Pulsing. Off and on. 73 psi. What gives? Any ideas?
What torch do you have? Does it pulse with just firing the pilot arc?
I swapped consumables yesterday and had the same problem, in my case, I knew the air was dry and PSI was fine. Turned out, the new electrode was bad (maybe I did not get it tight). Swapped it and finished the job. Look at the electrode, make sure there are not burns on it.
Are you saying that it pulses while cutting or it stutters until you start the cut ? My pp60 will stutter if I hold the trigger without cutting, but It never does that in the cut. I always start a cut with the tip at the edge of the metal.
The more information you give about the problem, the more likely you are to find a solution.
Well...I think it had to be related to running it off of portable welder.
When I got back home, with wall power, it worked fine.
How many watts was the engine? And was it as least a 40 amp circuit (which is really too small).Quote:

Not to overly state the situation here, but...We have the Generator wattage requirement clearly stated on our webpage, and input amps as well. It is also listed ON the machine itself. It's in the manual too. We also have multiple threads discussing the clean power requirement for generators. That generator wasn't even close to the requirement. It'll kill the unit as well and likely the generator as well. It also voids the warranty to run it on an underpowered, genset, especially if it wasn't clean powered.
