Teardrop Trailer/M/C hauler.

Building a teardrop camper, with a receiver hitch on it to haul my bike on a dirt bike hauler.

If you guys don't know what that is, it's a little camper w/ no bathroom. Just a bed and a small kitchen that's in the back. There is a door that opens like a trunk to get to it. Most of these are home made.

I built the deck ant the one side today. More to come soon..

I think these are the coolest trailers , we have club in quartzite AZ that has these trailer most are home built .

I've always wanted one. They are really easy to build. It will take a few months. But hopefully Ill be done by October.

these are the kind of projects i like to do , I have seen some really cool trailers like this , like watching the tv shows about them , should get some sawhourse bracketsAttachment 6538 makes wood working a lot easier

One of these is definitely on my to-do list. Looking forward to watching your progress.

Are you thinking about having the cabin easily detach from the trailer?

All that's going to hold the cabin to the trailer is lag bolts. But it is going to be a custom made trailer just for the cabin. The back will have a receiver hitch for a dirt bike hauler.

So do you basically build it out of wood, then cover it in a metal of your choice?
Are they insulated or does that take up too much space?

Ever consider having expandable sections? Something like (but perhaps not as radical ....) ;)

I will cut a bunch of big holes in the side and fill it with insulation. Then both sides will have 1/4" plywood, the .0040 Aluminum sheet on the outside and I am going to use hardwood flooring for the walls on the inside.

this stuff is great and then only need just 1 piece of wood , the foil insulation and then your outer skin Attachment 6571 http://www.insulation4less.com/Insul...l-48-Inch.aspx plus it doesn't draw moisture its also a good sound barrier http://www.insulation4less.com/Prode...1&Ratenumber=5

Like really thick hot water heater wrap! Does anyone use expanding foam? It's a bit messy though and a bit hard to gauge how much it will expand but that was the first thing that came to my mind.

expanding foam is ok but can expand to much and destroy what you did plus a pain if ever need to remove a panel or something its good for stuff you want sealed i use it for around pipe a lot going thew walls found mice like to eat it

Most of the ones I've seen just use 1" or so foam sheets for the insulation. Easy to cut and relatively cheap at the big orange box.

Is roll on truck bed liner waterproof?

bed liner yes is water proof i use on inside of aluminum fishing boats

I get the kit off of ebay i use it come with a sprayer and you can leave the chunky stuff out so it a smooth finish . I just did the inside hull of a bass boat with it for a customer .

Under 1,000lbs - the bike. I was going to go with the 5'2" x 10'. But I am going to scale it down to 5'x8'.

yes same guy i get mine from same kit works great i just don't use the rubber chunk stuff when doing boats for a smooth finish . takes about a couple of days to set up hard i use my heat lamps to speed it up curing

look so cool with the shiny sheet metal skin
