Need a little help with my new machine

I got my replacement multipro 205 today. Put my plug on and at first it looked good. I hooked up the air and tried to cut some sheet metal. I got noise and everything like its working but it didn't work. I cranked it up to 40 and tried again with nothing. I got power, air, and flame but no cut. Consumables are new and tight. I measure a full 220v going in. Even cranked up all the way it will not cut 16g sheet metal. I'm sure I must have overlooked something. Any advise? I'm on 14 hour days and no time to call in.

How is the ground clamp??

ground is good and metal is ground.

You are not getting arc transfer OR you have the torch in the + connector.

There may be an issue with the markings on the latest batch of MultiPro machines.

I had a call today from a guy that was having a similar issue with the plasma torch, and it seems the connectors are marked in reverse. “Workclamp”is actually the – connector and “Torch” connector is the +.



I was about to send an email to the factory about it. but we need to verify that the Torch connector is actualy the negitive port on this machine.

My torch is in the neg side as I was told to do even though the machine is marked with the torch being pos. I get no transfer. Kinda like it is not making enough power to actually work. consumables are new and tight.

UMMMM.... Ray, if the face is actually marked correct and I'm using it wrong will it hurt my unit? I was going to try again before work but your reply got me thinking it might be a bad idea. At this point I have tried using it less than 2 minutes and have no warning lights.

I guess the best thing to do now is miss work and call in so I can return this thing for a refund and buy something that works.

Ok... It works. Instructions were backwards. My face plate was marked right. Max cut is 1/2 inch, will not hack 3/4. Gonna play around with the air a little later and see if that helps. First machine died in under a couple minutes. At this point I'm at about 6 minutes of cutting with good results 1/2 inch or less. Customer service is very good.

Keep in mind this is not the PowerPro. The Multipro is a " second" line and not usually sold for the US market, so you won't have the same machine or the same results we publish..but you should be able to get more. If its not green, then its not our prime line. It sounds as if we just need to coach you a little bit, unless you have only a 40 amp plasma such as a 184. Which torch do you have? You called me but I never heard back from you when you said you were going to call from another phone.

I keep reading this and it bothers me. I decided to buy this based only on the specs listed for this exact machine. As advertised on ebay not here. I got the same specs in the crap manual that came with it. Nice

Everlast is Green in the US. Which torch do you have? I've never even seen one in person. Its ebay, and anyone researching our product line knows that our main line units sold in the US are green. Anything sold on Ebay, I cannot guarantee what it is. We sell and liquidate old stock, product with cheaper/different torches, and yes, even the regular stuff...But its up to the customer to ask the questions. I don't work with Ebay, thankfully, since I couldn't hold much more on my plate, so I have no idea what is on there on any given day...There is/has been bogus Everlast stuff sold on there too.

wsd 60p. It is everlast. I'm still playing with it and got it cutting very smooth up to 5/8". I would like info on a better torch. This thing is "wide" and the top button just don't feel right.

That style torch is likely all that may fit that unit and its a HF unit with a 50 amp HF cutting side. You may not get much more than 5/8-3/4:". At a nearly standstill speed, you may squeak a little more out of it. If it was a regular everlast blow back design you would get a good bit more... Apparently they put the cheaper options on the MP 205 for the other countries. Do you have a pilot arc too, I assume you should but not sure at this point? You need about 60-65 psi for optimal cutting while its activated. Do you have an air dryer on your line besides the one that came with the plasma? You MUST have one or you will not get satisfactory results. As far as the upgrade, it sounds as if you do have the better torch. There was a version of that torch with a zip tie handle we had several years ago. That is the standard torch that we put on the PP60. But its on the Supercuts as well in a non pilot and pilot version.

I just installed a new guage and dryer on my compressor. currently running 2 dryers and 70psi with killer cuts in 5/8. Good enough that I don't need to grind them for welding. I might have to jerry rig a gun that feels good.

What kind of dryer is it? A water trap type isn't usually sufficient. Lower your air pressure, and you may actually see cut capability go up. More pressure does not equal more cut capabilty.

devillbis air dryer for painting at the compressor with a regulator to drop from 175 down to 70 before air filter/dryer combo that came with my old plasma. All very good. As of now 62 psi works best and I'll live with less than 3/4" capacity. Although I cut both sides and end up with a nice cut. The cutting edges I cut down are 3/4" by 10" so I will live with cutting twice or use my o/a and a grinder. I dropped the power as low as it would go and the air to 30psi and sliced a tin can so smooth it looked like I used tin snips. 99% of this units use will be on sheet metal up to 1/4". I keep the home fab work to light weight stuff. I'll have to buy a bottle and knock the rust off my tig skills next. I was going to try the arc side but don't have any small rod with me.

You can loosen the screws and flip the handle so the button is on the bottom. Just figured that out after a year of thumbing it.

That sounded so good. My finger is messed up and I can't push the button that way. Good idea if not for having a bum trigger finger.

Still not clear on what was incorrect? The manual? Or themarkings on the welder.

Does the manual say to connect to the positive port.

I was under the understanding the connectors were markedTorch and workpiece.

I’d like to know so I can direct other correctly, I haven’tseen one of the special units yet.

The manual was wrong and the face plate was right. It works now. A little bit shy of the specs for power. I'll need to adapt a torch that fits me better. I just ran a few sticks of 1/16" 6013 and it did good. I cut all the parts for my new welding cart and it done real good.

Hi i have the same machine mine works fine all but the digital display, it seems to be stuck on 1 the amperage will still adjust fine but the display only reads one no matter where the knob is turned. I have unplugged, checked fuse, changed function an nothing fixed problem! any help would be greatly appreciated!

you need to talk to customer service. They did me right.
