When I spoke with Oleg the other day he said he will contact us by the end of the week for shipping details.

Great, but it's a long time to be excited, especially since this whole thing started over a year ago. I think more than a few people are sceptical about the March delivery date. If Everlast pulls it off AND the welder meets all expectations, then great, but it's not a long time to complete the development (it might be a clone of an existing model which would shorten it) and testing. The testing will be key, and I have not seen anyone at Everlast mention their approach to confirm this welder addresses all the 250EXT issues. Are they going to rely on a select set of forum members to put it through the paces? Internal testing? Welding "experts"? To make March, the formal testing would have to start very soon to allow time for rework if problems are found.
My guess (with very little data but a view of previous performance)? A trouble-free 255EXT would be available earliest June 2013. Hopefully it goes more like the 210EXT, which appears to work well and entered the market with very few problems. They need to make this a winner like that one, which is why I hoped they switched to the same factory that makes the 210, and plan to test the hell out of it before putting it out to the open market. :)
Cheers,
Mike
When will there be more details on the 255EXT?
With the return deadline only 10 days away on the 250EXT's, it would be nice to have some information on the 255's before then.
Todd
...
Hey Todd,
I guess it comes down to what you need to know - you know the max amperage, available waveforms, some of the ranges, but a lot of detail is missing as usual - and an unconfirmed delivery date. My worry would be what is the real date for a unit that has been fully tested?
You thinking of keeping the 250ext? That would be an orphaned machine whose value would depreciate like a stone.
Cheers,
Mike
Here's what was posted by Mark (Performance/Lugweld) at weldingweb... Source: http://weldingweb.com/showpost.php?p...11&postcount=1 This may be here in another thread, I just haven't seen it.

The new Digital Microprocessor controlled 250 Amp PowerTIG 255 EXT will be here soon with some radical new design and improvements over the previous model. Expected delivery will be in March. The units feature wave form control for AC welding, Advanced AC pulse along with standard AC/DC pulse. It features memory function. It also has excellent starting, with low amp capability for AC and DC. The unit also is slated to have an "easy setup" function which features a good starting point for the user for both AC and DC without having to go through a complicated setup process or give the operator a "recenter" point if the customer needs it. The Stick features Hot start time/current control, along with arc force control. Simplified layout and design makes the unit easy to set up and assess the programmed parameters. One knob control keeps the adjustments simple and intuitive. This unit like the 210EXT feature PowerFactor Correction which improves generator operation and withstands "dirty" power better than ever before. If you have further questions give us a call. Some details are being finalized now and full specs will be available shortly after the first of the new year. This unit is compact and is projected to operate on single phase 240 or 3 phase 240 with a 480V 3 phase option available at customer request.
I just don't like the Dec 5th due date on everlast's side, when they will not even give basic information on the replacement welders. There are lots of variables that I'm concerned with, like duty cycles, noise, frequencies, pedals, starting amps, pulse rates, torches, etc...
I would like to make an educated decision, on whether I should keep what I have, upgrade to the 255, or just get a refund.
I want to know if the 255 is a true replacement for what the 250EXT was promised to be, or is it going to be a smaller lighter, less industrial welder with limited functions.

This still puts me in a precarious position... I have called and did finally receive a call back, but was told that Oleg would contact me Friday to set up shipping details. Here it is, Saturday, and no call and no details. Time is running out and I have no details. I understand Oleg is busy, but when faced with a deadline, I'd rather have things done sooner than later!
Yes! That is what I would prefer if the balance control adjusts the percentage of the positive portion of the cycle.
Yes! That is what I would prefer if the balance control adjusts the percentage of the negative portion of the cycle.
Or, if it is a +/- from 50%, I think something along this line would make more sense:
Attachment 8562
I really don't care where the balance is referenced from either, as long as the picture on the front matches what the adjustment actually does.
Got to looking at the pulse section a little closer too, am I the only one who notices something amiss here?
Attachment 8563
The way I read it, we only have to have things arranged before the 5th, still gives us a bit of time to get them crated and shipped. I really hope I can sneak in a couple more projects before then. ;)
The pulse section looks fine if it follows the 210EXT pattern. As that machine pulses low not high, so max amps is set my the main control and pulses are low. There is another brand I've seen that is just like that. It also matches the graphic nicely.
I'll be calling everyone Tuesday and Wednesday and will extend the deadline for one more week. We are trying to get all orders out from Friday and Monday will busy as well. I want to get all this done asap.
Just found this thread today. Oleg i will be calling on Monday for shippong info. Glad i kept the box. Mark this is Joe in Bayonne NJ.
I have not received a call either... I know Oleg extended things a week, but I'm concerned things won't happen, and I'll be left high and dry.
Slightly relieved that I'm not the only one though!
Has anyone had a call yet to ship back their 250 EXT? I have been waiting for a call and was told that Oleg would call last week? Just checking in because I do not want to lose the opportunity to return this welder and swap it out with the new 255 EXT.
i start to call costumers already .. i will get to all
please don't worry
Understand, I am waiting for a call. Too bad I left my cell phone at my desk this evening.
Also all 250 EXT owners and others who posted on older 250 EXT threads, your post count was reduced due to erased threads.
If you have entered the Winter Fun Time contest, you may notice that you have lost some post count. I I started with 228 and was up to about 240 posts and now notice that I am at 221, now 222 posts.
