Different sensor and probably different version MS board to. Also if they put a shim in his sensor, that might change things I bet. Anything that can interfer with the signal is bad. My signal and ground for this sensor is wrapped in a ground for shielding. I didn't try it out tonight so maybe I will tomorrow. I have heard of one other person that had to turn a POT 2 or 3 turns cw so that would be my next change if the resistor does not fix it (I am confident that it will).
I havn't been on in a few days but I have more parts here now however I have not taken any picture. The list of parts is complete gaskets sets, new Big Valves, New Valve seats, new Valve seals, AN fittings, Fuel filter with AN fittings, Boost Gauge(already installed), silicon hose, and AN banjo water fittings for the turbo. There may have been more parts but I can't remember off the top of my head. I'll snap some pics later on.
On another note, the reason for the lack of forum activity is the fact that I have been out driving till 3 and 4 AM tuning and working on the car. The resistor was the fix for the the crank sensor issue I noted in a previous post. :) I have burned about half a tank of gas so far tuning but there is time wasted as I am driving it on the streets and interstates tuning so it takes longer to do all parts of the maps. Besides tuning will take a long time to finalize. Currently I have a pretty devent base tune with just a couple little rich spots. Tonight I am going to change my plugs and tune some more. I still have the issue with the cam sensor not working correctly so I am not using it but I can work that out later if I want. I have not taken any video or pictures of the tuning but maybe Ill snap something along the way.
Glad you go it figured out. Sometimes they can make you want to pull your hair out, but in the end it always seems worth it when you figure it out.
The project is really coming along nicely! I have to say that I'm not envious of all the complexity you've added to the car (I've always preferred things simplified), but I am always envious of your lack of smog laws! California is ridiculous with smog laws, not to mention the number of years (38, FYI!) they go back and require emission testing! Just how many people are driving around in 30+ year old cars anyways?:mad: I've rarely seen any cars or trucks that old "out and about" during recent times.
yea I grew up in California and remember the smog laws. Here in Iowa there is no smog checks at all, just go down to DOT (same as DMV for the most part) and get your plates. When I lived in Arizonia, the smog check passed if they could read the ECU and see that there were no codes. Technically your not suppose to be using MS on street cars but it can run the car just as good or even better than the factory ECU. We were out tuning the other night and honestly, we both believe the car was pulling harder and better than on the factory chipped ECU. The car is currently off the road though as the tear down and new motor build is going under way. Since the MS3 is working and we lost a valve guide seal at 125MPH (:confused:), we decided rather than just fixing the seal that its time to tear down and build the new motor. Dropped off the head, new valves, valve seat, valve seals, pistons, rods, rod bearings, and crank to the machine shop to get them prepared.
As I mentioned there has been progress but lack of updates. Here I will catch it up..
