Well, I'm really stumped on this one. Have 250V at the output of the switch, and no obvious loose wires or burnt parts. Not even an odor of something burnt. In fact it is pristine in there! (I'm not so sure about the idea that not using electronic equipment leads to faster deterioration if kept clean & dry indoors).
It's true he never used it! I think he just bought it online a few years ago. Is it true that some of these would only show the current while welding? That seems really odd.
Would you have a schematic for this unit so I, or my friend could do more in depth troubleshooting.

There were just a handful of those first units made. Sort of a intermediate series. Back then schematics weren't priority as design changes were rapid. They probably are similar, to some of our other, older units and our tech can still help you out if you call tech support. He can probably also repair the unit, but this thing is pretty much out of warranty. Parts should be available. But again, call tech support and they can walk you through trouble shooting the most likely things. Much better than a schematic.
