well Bluco offers a lease to own program! Stronghand is a little more affordable, their smaller table is around $2,000.00.
I need another portable table ... Jody (weldingtipsandtricks.com) was testing a Stronghands Nomad ... you can pick them up for around $150 ... it would cost me a little less to build one my self but these things are pretty well thought out so I'm thinking about getting one after I get my new 200DX. They are expandable with a leaf ... and fold up like a Workmate (TM) the only thing I noticed is there is no dedicated ground lug but I can fix that. Anyone had any experiences with the Nomad?
I looked at the nomad for awhile, and I ended up deciding on the Miller 30fx. It's going to be my primary table, and I felt the top was much more solid than the nomad ... An upgrade from the sawhorses I use now. I like the idea that I can clamp a bench vice or a grinder to it ... It's also very heavy. However, I think I would be buying the nomad, if I was looking for a second table like you are. The extra expense and weight just aren't worth it. The ability to join the tables is a nice selling point, but the kit was way expensive. I think Jody just cut up some diamond plate, and it worked great.Quote:

At some point I'll have to figure out what I'm going to do for a welding table. That Nomad looks pretty good. Don't have a lot of space to dedicate to welding so being able to fold it up is nice feature. Thanks guys for mentioning it! :)
I have a Nomad and while it's not my primary table, I really like it for some things. The space saving and portability are the big things. I'll take it outside or use it instead of crawling around on the ground. (Getting too old for that. ;)) A big thing is that you can adjust the height, so you can match it up to some other table to give you support for big things that just don't fit.
Stronghand has a smaller version of their build pro table thats 900.00 range.

Sean..What's to prevent you from building the strong hand table after you get your plasma table up and running,,,making a bunch of 5/8 holes in 5/8 or even 1/2 inch material should be do able on the plasma table and a lot cheaper than the 2 grand they want for it.....who knows,,, come up with a good design of your own and you may make a few bucks cranking them out...Quote:

Unfortunately, when it comes to shipping, not everyone is created equal. The more you ship, the more you are eligible for shipping discounts and the discounts can be extremely steep. I priced 1/4" plate and I could not be in the ball park of competitive! If my table was running a 4'x4'x1/4" would cost $325.00 plus shipping. I found this on ebay This is about the same $$$ as everyone else. The only way to be competitive in something like that would be to buy a truck load of plate direct from the mill.
Really happy with my 30FX, though at the price, I may buy a Nomad for a second table rather than another Miller. Of course, a Stronghand would be nice too if I can ever get a storage building to clear out the garage shop. I passed on the Nomad the first time, I wanted something nice and heavy. Now I'm thinking a lighter one would be nice. The 500lb capacity of the folding Miller is nice though, I'd trust it to capacity.
Looking to set up a temporary table, has anybody ever used galvanized sheet over plywood? I don't tack to the table, so I don't think heat will be an issue, but I figure I'll learn from other's experiences.
