I have purchased gas cups and other welding minutia via EBay with pretty decent success. I must say I really like walking into the LWS and getting stuff though. I've established a pretty good relationship and can get stuff now and at reasonable prices.
I just ordered my Miller Elite Digital helmet and some Weld Craft tungsten and some filler rod from http://www.weldingsupply.com/
The helmet ran me $287 rather then the $390 everyone else wants for it. They also had really good prices for the tungsten and filler rods. I purchased 2 pounds of 3 sizes of ER70S2 and 308L and 5 sizes of 4043 (22lbs total), the helmet, Tillman gloves, and 3 different sized tungsten all for less than $500.
I work away from home weekdays and home on weekends so It can make a little home project stretch for weeks if I try to mail order everything I "might" need. It can be very hard (and frustrating) to predict what type materials may be needed for a given project.
WeldMart, and harbor freight are great, with different needs of course.
Be careful about Harbor Freight welding consumables unless you are really desperate. Some there are jaw-droppingly overpriced, like 1.1lb spool of 4043 aluminum filler wire for $30.

If you put together a large enough size order to defray the shipping costs, weldingsupply.com has really great prices on most welding consumables and accessories like filler rod. They also have a pretty nice selection compared to the other online vendors. They do not ship it out immedaitely IME, but took a few days to package it up. So be sure to plan ahead with them.

Has free shipping on orders over $25.00
Free shipping was the clincher. I have my first order with them. Thanks for the post. I buy locally when I can, but the prices are just so high sometimes. I'll pay 20% more to support a local guy on smaller items, but the 300% higher than online is making me pretty damn mad.
Arc zone has good pricing on tungsten and filler metal and that is the only place online where I could find 2% lanthanated electrodes. And you also get a free bag a peanuts with every order.
stay away from toughweld.com unless you want your stuff a month or so later
Not an expert yet. However, from what I have read arc-zone is one of the better online to deal with. I have ordered from them more than once. I have had no problems. I didnt get a free bag of peanuts though.
Ya I meant m&m's
after looking around it looks like wed depot has the best prices that I can find
Great list of possible suppliers, I will have to check out a few of them. Free shipping can be a real deal clincher.
Just had a great experience with Cyberweld- based on this thread I placed an order on Friday. Shipping was free, and the new helmet was FedExed and arrived Saturday morning. Wow!
I’ve been very happy with www.WeldFabulous.com as they had good prices and decent rates for overseas shipping. Not all of the others will ship international. I got a great deal on my Speedglas helmet from them.
