I just set up my new PP 205 and have a question on the amp selection.
The amps do not change when I move the move the red amp dial.
The led readout bounces from 23 to 28 amps.
It seems the amp control knob has no effect.
Am I missing something? Maybe just a new owner mistake.
Any help would be appreciated.

Update,
I read in the trouble shooting section of the manual that the problem might be with the foot pedal.
I swapped the foot pedal plug with the torch plug in the torch control plug and the amps changed normally.
Now when I plug in the foot pedal again and turn the setting on the foot control to max setting of 10, the max amps only goes to 110. Is this normal?

Sounds like the foot pedal gear has slipped in shipping. If you call tech support we can walk you through resetting it. If you called yesterday, we will get to you today, we had phone and internet issues yesterday that delayed some return calls.

Hi Rod,
I have found that with the foot pedal plugged in the amps does not change with the red amp dial. The 23 amps on the readout is showing the minimum setting (assuming AC) with the foot pedal at rest. To see the maximum amps without triggering the HF start and gas, you need to hold the micro-switch lever down and then depress the pedal. The knob on the foot pedal appears to adjust the maximum amps.
I don’t think the red amps knob does anything when the foot pedal is plugged in. That’s how it is on my PP205 anyway.

On my 250 and other welders I've used the current is set to the maximum level that you do not want to exceed. When the foot pedal is depressed momentarily the pre-flow kicks in if set and then the post flow and the amps drop all the way back to minimum until the post flow stops. When post flow stops the readout again shows the maximum amps the you do no wish to exceed and it can be adjusted.
Depressing the foot pedal while welding causes the amperage display to show the actuall amount of current being provided at the torch and if all is well with the foot pedal you should be able to attain the maximum amperage that you set when you depress the foot pedal fully.
If the rack and pinion on the foot pedal has skipped you might see less than the maximum current that you preset, when fully depressed. This indicates that you need to reset/adjust the rack/pinion at the foot pedal. If it reaches maxium at some point before being fully depressed then an adjustment is also called for.

I personally thought the free foot pedal and torch were nice starter kit additions and thought is was darn nice of Everlast to include them in the basic package when no other manufacturer does. I replaced both later with what I felt was top of the line quality equipment and am very happy with the welder and the upgrades. It wasn't cheap though.
The PPro 205 and Ptig 200 DX both will not adjust amperage at the dial on the panel. I believe this is in the owners manual. The foot pedal gives you the maximum amount of power available through the second rheostat on the front. If the cog has slipped slightly, you will read a higher "start" amperage.
