Did you order it from Everlast Canada? I can imagine the excitement, I still get that way when new design are in for testing.
Yes, I ordered it from Everlast Canada, and I received it today! I am amazed that I was able to pick up the entire box myself, all bubble-wrapped, and load it into my van without help... its surprisingly light as far as welders go.
Everything looks good!
Going shopping for a plug... I'll pick up a 50A that will mate with my range-type receptacle... the breaker is a 40A so I will just have to take it easy and see how it responds...
I would like to add that it was my first experience with DHL shipping/courier, and it was a pleasant one; the box is in good shape.
Gandalf, you may find the 40 amp breaker troublesome for the 250ex, it's a powerful machine and draws heavy juice to load up the capacitators, I had my older 40 breaker trip and then I had to rush over reset and then restart before they bled down, it will run on 40 once you get it started, but best to change your breaker to a 50 to handle the initial surge. I hope you got a water cooler with it, the cooler makes it a totally awsome package.Quote:

Just adding a little note to follow up,
My 40A two-pole breaker has held up flawlessly for hours and days of welding. In my case here, the wall receptacle is a 50A one, which is nice, and I installed a matching plug onto the welder cord. If I experience any tripping with it I will change it out, and make sure the wiring is 6 gauge to boot.

sorry took me 4 months almost to welcome you to the forum , I dont have a chance to get on here as much as I need to to keep up on what is going on ,, Welcome the the board and also the 250EX is a great unit and not sure if you have but try and get a WP 20 torch head , It will help a lot on keeping you welds steady , but the 17 is a good torch as well and will build up your steady muscles and help your learning curve as well so when you do try different torches it will seem easier..

Thanks very much, I am really excited about this, and am practicing a lot. I think the 17 is a good torch to break in on, if I get good with it then I will be laughing if I go to a smaller torch later. It's also kind of relative, so to me, the torch feels just fine :).
