MIG 200 tip problems

I have an Everlast MIG 200 that I purchased about a year ago. Lately I have been having problems with it feeding the wire. When I oiled the felt thing that helped but tonight it totally quit. I have taken apart the gun and found that the wire has blocked up the coiled feeder tube at the end near the tip. Also, the brass receiver on the tip, where the brass tip screws into, that is kind of burned in places. Is it possible to get a new wound feeder tube and a new brass end? I can send you a sketch of the parts if needed - or maybe you have a parts diagram.

You can get a replacement liner and tip holder etc for your gun / whip.
I am not sure what the U.S office carries in replacement parts and consumables but we stock all components here in Canada.

Can you give a better description of what happened? What type wire were you using? Is it copper coated? Is it birds nesting? Or are the drive rolls slipping? You can remove the liner to clean it out if you need to. Taking compressed air to the nozzle end can purge build up of the flakes of metal and build up. It takes a lot of welding to wear out a liner. I have had mine for 8 years and done considerable welding, with no cleaner/oiler system and it is still good.

However, given your situation, you may not be able to salvage the liner. Have you got any pictures?

Too much oil will ruin the feeding system. Which unit do you have EXACTLY? Is it the green Power I-MIG welder?

Mike - the tip was wet last night when I attempted to use it and I didn't know it until it failed and I took it apart. I have a green MIG-200 Inverter MIG/MAG/MMA Semi-auto Welding Machine and the tip is a MB 15AK.

I think that the water caused the problem. It seemed to arc in the liner near the tip. I am using flux wire .030 size. I shouldn't be having feed problems as it was working fine before this although I did have feeding problems resulting in poor welding with lots of splatter and irregular feeding until I oiled the felt oiler - that seemed to give me good welding.

I can take pictures if you need them. I think that if I could cut the leads back about 6 inches, it would cut off the problem, but I don't know how to do that with the outer casing.

How do I contact one of these US locations? It looks like the closest to me is in California. Do they have an email?

Correction - the Mig welder is not green (that is the plasma cutter) the welder case is yellow.

Is it birds nesting? - I'm not sure what that means but I suspect that it is doing that. It continues to try to feed the wire even after it gets stuck in the tube. This causes the wire to feed out past the feed rollers and coil up in the feed area and then to short out.

Take your liner out and examine it. If it was wet from water, then I don't know how it could have happened. I think you have something that has happened there with condensation. Typically feeding systems like this are trouble free as long as the liner is in good shape. Take your liner out and see what it looks like. The liner looks kind of like an old choke cable without the center wire. A lot of times flaking of the wire can plug up and cause problems in the liner. It might be salvagable. Generic liners can be found most places.
