How is one supposed to take this off of the cup?
I wrestled with it for a bit, and got it off, but now it doesn't fit so well on the new cup I received today.

I do not understand your problem with the standoff. The only type i know of for that size torch is the type shown in the Picture and this is a simple matter of tightening the two set screws .
Do you have something different??
Mine doesnt have wheels its just a formed wire piece that clips onto the cup.
This is like what I have.
What torch do you have with your 256 . I am not sure if it is perhaps different to what i carry. It is possible that you have a AG60 Torch

OK i know the torch you have it is the AG60 and the wire stand-offs for both the S45 and AG60 are very similar so it may be a possibility

The picture that Duncan posted is of the P 80 design. It has a rolling standoff. The 60 amp torch has a wire stand off. The 60 amp torch is supplied with the 256.
The wire standoff can get weak either from excessive heat or if it is pushed on from the side, rather than slid up.
Well it was fine, if not too tight as is didn't spin or anything. It was already installed on the torch when my 256 arrived.Quote:

Too much heat? I'm not sure, I made several short (less than a minute) cuts on sheet metal @ 30 - 40 A
Then there was the lawn mower shaft ordeal. Once again less than a minute, probably less than 30 sec each, but at 60 amps, with lots of post flow.
Will the stand off Titan posted work on my torch?
The easy way to see if you have the correct wire standoff is to check the distance from the tip to the surface with it installed . If the tip of the torch touches the workpiece then you have a S45 Stand-off .
We have to keep the 2 types well seperated so as not to screw up and send the wrong type to our Customers.
When I got it, it was close, now it just wiggles too much to be of any use.
I guess I need to get some new ones, or the wheeled one like you posted, if it will fit.
the rolling Stand-off will not fit the US model torch supplied with the 256.
We supply a different Torch with our units and up untill yesterday i was under the impression it was the same Torch.
The wire Stand-off can be tweeked a little to get it back in shape. I normally just work the top ring out of the groove and then slide it off the Ceramic. You can get distortion fairly easily if cutting a awkward heavy material as the wire is not very heavy and with heating it up and perhaps pressing a little harder than you should it can throw it out of alignment easily.
If the ring is a sloppy fit just give it a little squeeze and after installing check that the torch head is straight with the wire feet. If not simply bend it accordingly.
