WP9 Torch With ITIG200

Started playing around with the sample torches today. I like the small WP9 air cooled Torch . The WP20 is a similar size but has water cooling for a heavier amp load/ Duty Cycle.
Both torches are Flex necks which perhaps may not appeal to a lot of people but i like the versatility.
I included switches on all samples and have them run inside the sheathing .
I am not sure if it may not be better to have the contact wires run outside for ease of removal for people that will mostly use these torches in conjunction with a Foot Control.

so before I go buy some other brand torch, when and how much for a 20 size with a flex head, like your photo but a 20

We need 3-4 weeks to evaluate the torches . The quality is good from a visual inspection but i think it is best to work them and see if there is some improvements to be made. Cosmetically the cover needs to be improved at the handle fitting .
this is perhaps a minor point but we will need to address this before the order goes in and of course if some issues develop with not so gentle handling then we need to be aware of it.
Realistically i think it is likely close to 10 weeks before they will be in stock with all consumables to match.
As for pricing on them we will be very competitive with 12' - 24' lengths offered.

Specking of torch size being a total noob to TIG are all the 17,18,26 size TIG torches the same size. I do know they use the same size consumables.

I have a 18 water cooled torch, is the 17 smaller? The 17 is air cooled, I would think it would be larger maybe? Are the 9 and 20 series torches larger than the 17, 18 and 26?

The WP20 is smaller than the WP18 as are the Consumables for the Torch.

The WP 17 torch is slightly smaller, depending upon the manufacturer.

People could add the short cap like Duncan has there and use it on tight jobs, still use the larger torch with a different sized electrode. Looks nice and small.

Hey all, ... I just adapted a 20 series water cooled torch to my 250 ex rig. A really really nice chinese built torch from a top rated ebay seller. Rubber hosing with nice braided nylon outer, plus a zippered cabling cover. Includes a brass stud style adapter, textured handle, long and short caps and a #7 cup, for $75.00! Seems to rival anything by CK, Weldmark, Radnor, Weldtech etc. , which for that money if your lucky offer vinyl hosing and NO cover.

I will tell ya that you WILL spend some time, ie several trips to menards, home depot, ace etc, to find the fittings necessary to make it all work, but it is relatively easy. just takes a little thought and creativity. Also probably more than one way to skin a cat, but i like to keep it clean and as close to stock as possible. If anyone is interested i will be happy to relate a short list of connecting options to make it work. Most torches of that series come with 2 LH threaded male fip fittings and one 3/8" RH threaded male fitting, that you'll have to adapt Using the supplied stud block, or by purchasing a $50+ dollar dinse adapter with the water return/drain line. ( basically two ways to approach it ) but no big deal either way.

All said and done i gotta tell ya tho, low and behold i actually got used to the big ole traffimet wp-18 torch supplied with the welder! A fine torch indeed! just more in your hand. But kind of steady and reassuring in a way! - Lou

I've seen a few people use a smaller cap, a gas lense, or the cup for one with either scotch brite or some stainless screen, then a really long stick out.


And if you need someone to beta test one, I'll be your guy! I can break anything!

Hello 2 rods, the ebay store is WELDUSA1 ..... There is also a WELDUSA, so be careful in searching for the right one. As for the connection mods, I'll try to post tomorrow for ya!

Sorry 2 Rods, got a little tied up, but here are a few pics of one way to hook up an "after market" 20 series water cooled to a Everlast Tig.
The adapter block is usually sold with the torch. Be aware that it uses left hand threads so that can present a problem with running out to the hardware store, home depot etc. As they will not have the variety of fittings you may need in LH threads. You can do just about anything in regard to stepping up, down, barbs, couplings etc. But for the left hand stuff, you will have to be a little creative and cut off one or more ends off of your new torch, and use the LH threaded fitting in a moddified way. I know this sounds like a pain in the @ss, but it's really pretty easy as you just kind of piece it together.
Now the the Everlast Tigs use a standard dinse type twist lock connection for the leads. You can do one of two things to do it how i have. #1, sacrafice the torch lead block that came with your welder, ( which is what i did, because i had to get a replacement torch due to shop damage, so i had a spair dinse connector), ..... or #2, go to your local welding supply and buy on the cheap, a Lenco LDA dinse adapter for about $12.95. It has the twist lock required and a short brass body. You will then silver braze or tig if you wish, the block supplied with your new torch to the LDA twist lock. It is purely an electrical connection for all purposes, and mechanical only to the extent that it will hold the block in a fixed position, and i recomend you silver braze it with a 65% silver rod and use flux. To the block you will then be able to connect your 20 series torch's power cable lead, that is also the water RETURN line (the water flows over and around the braided copper wire
inside the cable as it returns from cooling the torch head). The block you just connected to simply has a passage way thru it from left to right to a smaller female LH thread that continues the water return either to a drain, if your using a hose for your water supply, or to your tig cooler's in line. You will be cutting off the water-to-torch LH coupling and barb, ...... use those to go into the dinse block for your water return.

Ifyou are using a hose (city water), then get at the the hardware store of your choice a hose connector fitting and reverse engineer it back to a 3/16 barb that you will insert into the water-to-torch line. If your using a dedicated cooler, just do the same thing but adapt it to the coolers output fitting, ... still with me? Good, .... sounds like more than it is, you'll see.

Got it so far? No problem! Now the gas line to the torch. The 20 series torches come with the gas line in standard RH thread 3/8in fip male end, so just get a 3/8 female to 3/16 barb and use about a inch and a half sacraficial piece of hosing and conect it right to the quick connect barb that came with the everlast welder. Thats it! Really a lot simpler than it sounds in text! Included a few pics to give ya a visual. There are other ways to skin the same cat tho too!

I am really impressed with the WP9 flex Torch. Having used it daily since there arrival i can not say enough good things about them. Every single component on them is just Great From the fitment of the head to the Quality of the Hoses every little detail is covered with them.
I am just waiting to hear back on the WP20 water cooled Torches and these will then be ordered right away.
I will have to also get Consumables for the smaller Torches as we do not presently carry any Gas lenses , Collets ,Ceramics for this size .
and i will also be ordering Lanthaneted Tungsten as it seems this is a little difficult to get in some parts of Canada. ( we do not have the choices that are commonly found in the US )
I really hope to hear back today on the Evaluation as i want to place this Order now.

Lou : I looked at you pics of the stock dinse you modified for the torch .Is this complete ?looks like your missing a water line. I followed your idea but I gota flow tru block is that what your is .(pics don't show that )

I am trying to order an adapter to attach a WP20 torch like Trackmaster got to a PP256 but I have still not gotten the welder yet...still on the slow boat from China:-) Is the Dinse connector on the Everlast a standard 1/2" dinse or is it some metric size? There are a few choices on ebay and one appears to be a good choice for around $38.00 shipped and it has a 6 foot water line but I need to confirm the Dinse diameter before I pull the trigger. I will share the seller with everyone if it works out.

My PP256 came with 1/2 in Dinse connectors and I doubt they have changed the size. Please share the Ebay source for the connector you found.
I'm also waiting on that slow boat from China for a replacement PP256.

The U.S Sales Office will have the WP9 WP17 WP 20 with all the correct fitting for most of the Tig welders within 8 weeks
The one exeption at this time is the fittings for the POWER ULTRA 205
This unit uses a smaller Dinse connector and i have not ordered any torches compatible with it.
All models ordered are the flex head design
There is a limited number of these torches going to the US so i would suggest if any are interested in purchasing these to contact the Sales Office and tell them to put you on a mailing list for when they arrive.
Canadian Customers who are interested in these don't realy have to worry too much as we will have plenty in stock along with Gas lenses etc for all torches.
The WP20 was evaluated by a well respected Welder whose Website gets international views on a daily basis . And in his words " I love it " was his response to the torch . I can understand this as i really enjoy using the small WP9 and have used it on the 200DX ITIG 200 ( Mostly used on the ITig200) and the SuperUltra 205
