"heads up" on Nova water cooled TIG Torches
I've been enjoying and practicing with the new 210 EXT and I'm getting ready to hook up my EL W300 water cooler. This will give me a chance to use my new EL Nova water cooled tig torches: #20 rigid neck and a rota flex #20 Water cooled. The "Heads up" is, from what I have learned from sales/tech support, is that (as a new tig welder) do not follow the colors for plug-in to the colored quick disconnects on the water cooler! That is, the hose colors are not intuitive and appear to be switched. I think the hoses were switched during production.
I didn't see any posts, so I thought I would mention it here.
Blue (on my new Nova torch) comes out of the Dinse connector . Which is hot water! And needs to be plugged into the RED coupler on the water cooler.
Red (on my new Nova torch), a smaller diameter line, thus goes to the Blue coupler on the water cooler.
Black is the Argon gas line.
So, it appears to be that the water circulation lines are switched with regard to color coding. So, "Heads up" for all the new users out there (such as myself) ; do not simply follow the color coding on the lines and couplers.
Verify regardless of color, the line coming from the (TIG) electrode neg Torch DINSE line needs to be plugged into the Red coupler on the water cooler ( input,water in) , the other line naturally goes to the Blue coupler on the water cooler (output, water out).
Originally, I was confused as I was used to the air cooled torches and when I saw a blue line coming from the DINSE connector , where I was "expecting" a black argon line, I made a comment to tech/sales and I was informed of these details.
It is all very clearly laid out in the TIG Welder manual with the water cooled torch line plug-in diagram . Verify your lines as the colors may not match the coupler color they plug into!!
