Just getting started
I'm looking for advise on practice drills. I well be using my 225LX on very small steel fire arms parts, building up worn areas. Some of these parts are 180 years old.
Should I start with a 1/16 or 1/8 2% Thoriated tungstens? What would be a good filler rod? I was thinking of using 1/16 ER70S6.

The 3/32 is the best all around tungsten for most general welding. But as a gunsmith, you may need to consult some tech manuals on gun repair to identify the best combination of amps and tungsten, as well as filler material. 70s6 is a very good all around rod, with high silicone content for deoxidizing.
