torch based Amp controller for PowerTIG 250EX?

Hello Forum,

I am considering buying a PowerTIG 250EX to replace a Lincoln 200 Square Wave but I need a good torch based amp controller. I have called Everlast and emailed them, asking about their torch based amp controllers but I have not heard back from them in 10 days. My understanding is that their amp controller, you have to push a button to start and start the arc and then use the amp controller?

I believe they have a 7 pin torch connection. Do any after market amp controllers fit Everlast welders? I have bought two amp controllers from Weldfabulous.com for my Lincoln welders and they have worked great.

Any constructive feedback would be appreciated.

Yeah,

I've the Everlast hand amptrol for my 26 torch on 210EXT, and it's OK, but it's bulky. It's actually a Migitronic-type, which is a good brand, and it does have some interesting sequencing adjustability, since the contacting button is separate for the amps wheel.

But, I almost exclusively use a CK Worldwide SteadyGrip on my 17 torch now, even though, like most things CK Worldwide, it was pretty costly, at $272, via TIGDepot.

And that's the only place I know of where you can get it off-the-shelf set up for an Everlast 7-pin Panasonic connector (although usawelddotcom may offer a universal set that you have to provide your connector for the proper pinout, which isn't difficult).

Anyway, the SteadyGrip is brilliant!

It make arc starts and finishes smooth and steady. The pistol grip often act as a perfect propping device, as the grip can be rotated to cause the torch to come to different heights. And with your hand holding the pistol grip you never have a hot torch in your hand.

Otherwise, at TigDepot, I think you have to "add to cart" for it to show as a purchasable item, listed as a 200DV. So, contact TIGDepot directly to ensure that they are actually still available for an Everlast unit.

I think I may have been the first retail customer to use a SteadyGrip on an Everlast unit, beginning a few years back. I even did a little video on my early experience with it, which I'll post a link to.

And now, after a few years of using it, I'm convinced it's best amptrol device around, and potentially making even foot pedals an extraneous item.

Our site has slider switches on it. 159.00 You can attach it with the velcro type straps.
