New consumables

For the past six months we have been working on bringing the best quality line of Consumables for our Plasma Tig Mig Products.
Given the huge amount available over the internet and other places this may seem at first to be a simple project.
However it is not as simple as it first apeared. After gathering samples from various Suppliers we narrowed our search to a short list of suppliers. The only problem with samples is it does not tell you how consistent the production is going to be. Any one can sort through a pile of cons and send the best of the batch to you. With this in mind our next step was to pop in to the potential suppliers with very little advance notice.Everytime i went to visit our Welding Factory i would take the time to visit those company,s that we where interested in . Some where a far cry from what we expected and fortunately for us our new Supplier far exceeded our expectations.
There where a number of points that really impressed me . The facility for manufacturing was one The updated CNC machines used for producing the parts . The organised Warehouse facility for Finished products The quality procedures that where actually followed ( there are lots of ISO Factory,s but it only works if you follow the procedure and not fudge the books for Auditing )And one other point that really impressed me was the Raw material used is imported from Finland and Domestic materials are not used. ( too high a tin content in domestic )
A lot of people may think why bother consumables are just consumables and there is no difference from getting them from Ebay / Harbour Freight etc
But for us it is just one more way we can supply the best product to our customers to bring out the best performance for all our units.
With this in mind we will now be having the E laser etched on Nozzles tips etc.

I enjoy hearing why the consumables you sell are of a certain quality. In purchasing my unit never once did I see any cheap substandard anything. Everlast offers a 5 yr warranty which tells me a lot. Love my 256 thanks:)

Looks good but do they last longer than the old ones?

The new consumables do in fact last longer than our previous product .
This is readily apparent when just using them while testing units. Trying to get wear marks on the electrode tips to show the Torch has been tested took a lot longer than with our old Cons. In fact we ended up dragging the tip to get a burn mark on the electrode to show it had been used as our conventional method was really not showing any wear on the electrode.
I wanted the E placed on them to distinguish our product due to the fact that it is simple enough to get any Welding Consumable that you can imagine but for the most part they are the same quality and have the same imperfections .
I am not sure if a camera can pick up the imperfections but i will take some pictures and see if the differences can be seen just to show why i believe we have a Superior line of Consumables from previous .

I was in the local welding supply store looking for consumables, and they stated "we don't sell Chinese junk." So I flipped over the tungsten they almost sold me and showed him the "made in China" sticker.

I looked at harbor freight, they didn't have any plasma cutter consumables that looked remotely close to what is on the cutting torch on the 256. What amazed me is they had 3" pre-sharpened tungsten though!

It would be nice to be able to pick something up locally in a pinch though.

The laser etching is a nice touch!

Tell them to show you a product they sell that doesn't have a made in china label on it....

Harbor Freight has some stuff made in India, and other places, I think there was a can crusher they use to carry that was made in the USA.

The welding supply store was a different place. They had some sylvania tungsten that was displaying the american flag.

Funny thing was I had the Tig, and Plasma torch with me, and he was convinced the Tig torch was one he sold.

He asked me where I got the mini quick connect fittings from, and thats when I made it clear this was on a Chinese made machine.

Which BTW, where can I get the quick connects like that? It'd be nice if the barb fitting in the back of the multi machines was just a female threaded end, or a coupler like the one in the front.

I'll either run 2 ball valves, or some quick connects, as I think switching out the clamps is a pain.

Parker. I believe its a 1/8 euro connector that they sell.
You should be able to order it from them. I don't have the part number but I think it should come up.

The closest thing I see is a "high flow" but MacMaster Carr only goes down to 1/4".

I'm thinking some ball valves, and a 90* turn on the machines barb fitting in the rear will be best.

The cart I am thinking about building will be based off a old 2 wheel hand truck for a torch set up. The machine(and cooler in the future) will mount on the back, but sideways. This will allow for the machine to have the rear, and sides open, and not blocked by the argon tank.

It's true, there are a lot of things made in China these days. It's all about buying from a distributor that cares about quality and taking care of the customer.

Hey Titan, are these products available thru the California store or is this stuff for our friends North of the Border only? :confused:

The tungsten is not. But all the others should be.
