2T and 4T (210 EXT) do I have to have a torch with switch or can I also use foot peda

I want to do some pipe welding, but it is difficult (if somebody has some ides, let me know!) to get under them while also using the foot pedal. I know (if and when) I do tig welding for pipe I will use a manual gas switch and 4T switch on a air cooled torch, but I'd like to use the foot pedal to do 4T welding now. Is this possible? When I try to click the 4T position, it won't 'go' there, apparently it 'knows' I have the pedal set up. Any help?

Couldn't I just buy a switch to put on my existing water cooled torch? I don't think I need the adjust ability wheel (as opposed to on/off switch) since I can can program the 210EXT to ramp up, and ramp down.

There is no way to do it. Doesn't make sense to either. What is wrong with the torch switch?

Yes, there is a velcro or tie wrap switch to put on your own torch. Everlast has them or you can make your own. It replaces the pedal, so you use one or the other. I can't find a link to any on the Everlast site, so you would need to call them. But they come on a few Everlast products, so I'm sure you can order what you need with the cable length you need. Thanks for the info, I wouldn't like it if I bought something that I didn't need. Now I can justify getting a switch, and soon a gas cooled torch for my tig machine.

I got one, but I sent it back because I traded the air cooled torch for a water cooled one (and some money). I called up sales and they are going to GIVE me one.
That's great!
It's always nice to expand capabilities and not have to spend money!

It's always nice to expand capabilities and not have to spend money!

Shoot, they sent me the wrong one. I got it one day after he sent it to me. The older 210EXT have a different plug that the foot pedal and switch plug into. I noticed that switches are cheap, but (other than off my foot pedal) where can I get the plug? Sales said they will see how long it will take, so I don't know how long I'll have to wait.
I guess that this is a propriety type thing (brand name) so any plug for a switch is unlikely to be the right one.

The plug is a pretty standard item, but the 210EXT had two versions. Depending on which one you have, you can often locate the matching plug at a local electronics shop. One style is often called a panasonic style plug and the other is a variation on a communications plug. Both types have been used for microphones on ham radio gear, so that is the kind of place to look. Take your old one to match it up.
