Hi all i have a power ultra 250 worked fine for serval years now would lke to use it for smaller project. what is the max amps i can run using 110 volt ? from what i can fine it is about half but want to make sure. thanks.

Generally the limit will be around 90 amps. The controls will automatically reflect the input power, so the full power setting will be a lower value when running on 120. A lot depends on the 120 volt circuit you are using. If you have a good 20 or 30 amp circuit and a short cord, everything will be fine. However, if you run on a 15 amp circuit or have a long cord, you will need to reduce power to keep your breaker from tripping out.

On that model, there was an issue running it on 120V due to the fact that it pulled a lot of amps on 120V and did not limit amperage output enough...and it would create issues if people tried to use it wide open on 120V and the breaker would snap off. I'd recommend keeping the amperage down to 85 amps and use a 20 amp breaker and you should be fine. But it will go way over that on many of the 250 PU models.
ok thanks for the reply. i did see that it will go all the way to 250 amps. i'm doing very light stuff so 85 amps is fine and it is right to the wall no drop cord.
Be sure that's a 20 amp circuit. Normal ones are 15 amp.
Perhaps Mark can chime in to let you know if the indicated output is accurate for that model when running on low voltage. I know some of the early models did not read properly when running on low voltage, while other models did update the displayed value. It didn't effect how the machine functioned, just the cosmetic issue of the displayed value not reflecting the actual output power. For light work you won't have any problem, and you will know if you push too hard as you will simply trip your breaker.Quote:
