New Everlast Owner
Hello all. My name is Ellis. My grammar and spelling suck so if that bothers you move along.
I run a business in Monroe Washington called Speed Secrets. I build late model performance cars, Fuel Injected conversions and Build Transmissions.
A few years ago I taught myself how to TIG weld. I have been MIG, Stick and oxy welding since high school in the early 80s. I am far from the best "weldor" but I get the job done. A recent experience with subbing out to another shop has brought me to acquiring a New AC/DC welder so I can do those projects myself now. At least then I know I will get something at least close to what I wanted.
My first welder was second hand. It was an 80s Cebora 130. I meet with the company selling them at SEMA in 09. I had always bought parts for the machine from them and this machine is still in service in europe. Just after I met them the company closed and I could no longer get parts. So in 2010 when I needed parts i could not find them. At this time I bought a new Miller 211. I LOVE this machine! I was able to get parts for my old Cebora out of europe and got it back up and running. I recently gave it to a your couple who race locally. Around that time I needed some bars added to my car. I could not TIG weld but had a friend who could and he brought over his new syncrowave 200. What a mammoth! Well after a few months of waiting for him to come over I went to the local Welding supply store and bought what i needed and started to learn on my own car. After borrowing the big blue box for a couple of years I picked up a used Maxstar150. The 150 has served me well and made me a lot of cash. As I mentioned after my latest experience I knew it was time to upgrade.
Now There is no way I could afford a new Dynasty. even a Syncrowave would be pushing it. I set out to find a buy the best welder I could for under $1500. I searched high and low. I Might mention I have been for years but it was now time to buy. Everlast has been on my list for a while. after weeks of research i was down to an Everlast 200DV or the 250EX. I called on Monday morning and ask a few questions. Within five minutes it was decided I was going to get the 250EX with upgraded pedal and leads. I called back monday afternoon at 4:30 PM PST and finalized the order. Fast forward thursday afternoon and big brown shows up with a box for me!
Today I got the machine up and running with my home made cooler kit, An old $20 fuel pump, a 5 gal bucket and some rubber hose. Right out of the gate I was impressed! Very smooth stable arch and very easy to direct and control the puddle. Tomorrow I will start playing with some aluminum scraps I have and see if I can figure out this aluminum thing ;)
I will see if I can get some pics up

The everlast site has been having problems with pics lately . I can not open your attachment. Welcome to the site. I just got a 2016 250EX myself. I do not have the quick connects for the cooler so I have not run it yet. I built a cart for it and my old miller tig cooler out of an old pressure washer cart I had. Sounds like you have a very nice business going. You will get a lot of work out of you new machine. I am old school so I will have to play with my 250EX on aluminum myself. I have always tig welded aluminum with constant H.F. so using HF start and the ac balance for aluminum will be different for me. I hope to get more pinpoint control of the welds than what is possible with the constant HF.

Just an Update after three years of service. I am still very happy with this unit. I have hundreds of Hours of service out of it so far. Aluminum, Stainless and all others I could find. Always searching for new idea's. I converted to a CK 2 series flex torch last year after the Everlast torch started to leak at the head. The Fuel pump on my home made cooler kit but had a Methanol pump laying around I use now. It pulses but i do not notice it. I also picked up a FirePower(ESAB 186) 200a AC/DC unit. I got a good deal on it from one of my dealers(under a grand). It is all digital. I am not sure if it is the digital part or the unit but I have not had the greatest luck welding aluminum with it. Steel and SS is fine. I have used it a lot on the race car but not much else
Over All I would definitely buy this unit again

Hey,
Nice to see that follow-up feedback on your unit after some years of professional use.
