I have the foot pedal below I want to wire to work with my 160STH. Anyone have a diagram or schematic that would show what potentiometers I need and how they are wired in the pedal? The connector wiring at the welder I'm all set with.

I adapted the same pedal to my 520. All I did was to open the machine and trace which pins on the front connector went to where;
The Pots 3 - the wiper (center tap), Left/Right of it on the pot, and finally the 2 switch wires
Then, open the pedal and match what's there by moving those wires to the machines position according to the pedals connectors pins.
What surprised me was that the pedals pot was a different value, I originally expected to have to change it but, worked great as-is...
I did that but only got 70 amps max on the display. So the potentiometer must be wrong. The one in it is only 10k and another one at 2k
The pedal has 2 pot - right?
Maybe it's the pot in front, that sets the max output, is the one that's wrong?
It has two pots. The one in front is a 10k and the one for the pedal is a 2k. I tried adjusting both and could not get it above 70 amps.
Yea, so I would try changing the front one (it's the easy one anyway as it has a "normal" length shaft) to something I had around. I wish I could tell you to what but I'm a "try and see" guy more than theory ;)
Been awhile since I had a 160STH, and only used a pedal once to confirm it worked (and it did).
Run the amp knob all the was up and try it, should not (on that unit) matter. Then I would probably drop a 10K across the 10K pot and do a quick test. I think I used our 250EX pedal, maybe the 210EXT, but think it was the 250 pedal. And it worked fine.
Can you send up a picture of the control plug.

This post has a schematic for the 160 two pot pedal. You can find the values elsewhere in that thread, too. In fact you should read the whole thread to get a feel for what the original poster was trying to do, and how the original pedal worked. While the two pot pedal does work, it is very much a compromise and that design is typically used on low end machines, where cost is a big deal. There are a lot of ways to change the design, but not at that price point.Quote:

I also seem to recall that some of the two pot pedal machines changed over the years, so it might matter when your's was produced as to the exact values used. To be honest I can't remember the details.
