was wanting to get a 110 tig unit ...what is the unit with the most amps at 110.?
The PowerTIG 255ext with 150 amps. But with any 120V unit, you need a large breaker to get this much power.
have u used the 140 st. ?
It depends on when it was made. From what I understand the very early ones would go above 100 amps, but would trip 20 amp breakers, so they reduced the output on 120v to prevent that. Mine is later, and will go to about 90 amps on 120v. I think I have a post here somewhere where I had input and output volt and ammeters on it for 120v and 240v tests.
You can TIG 1/8" carbon steel, but you have to slow your travel speed. I try to use 240v whenever possible. It draws so little that you can get quick and easy 240v from pretty light duty circuits.
