160sth..lift arc procedure

Hi Gang...Have a question on lift arc procedure with the 160..Do you have to have the peddle or finger switch in play to initiate arc..???? thanks

Because of the gas solenoid, the switch is still required, to start the gas flow and put power to the torch. If you use a torch with a valve (or don't care about constant gas flow) you could just use a jumper plug on the unit and lift start with an always hot torch. Seems like a step backwards, but maybe you have a particular special need for that?

Thanks again ram...I was hopin to be hot ALL the time...Only to keep from dealing with another part of the equation(ie; depressing and holding the switch & I have valves on my torches) Believe this or not...The 160 has a little nicer arc than my invertech 275..not to mention the readout ...im "practising" my tig skills...Is this jumper plug something you can buy?? or just tape the switch/pedal in the on position.....Appreciate ur feedback..as usual..Thanks

You could wire in a mini 2 position on/off toggle on the torch instead of the momentary paddle switch which is spring loaded. There's not any difference except, I'd also wire in an LED or something to remind me the switch was left on.
