Still a happy camper
Over the last half year I’ve been doing mostly MIG … today I spent a couple hours just running practice TIG beads on SS and mild steel … did some filler, lap and T joints … with my 200DX I almost forgot how much control you get with this awesome unit. Still stoked and it’s been a couple years now. :D

Hey, Winky, good to hear from ya. What's all this MIG you've been working on?

Hi Dave ... I've been doing some wrought iron gates and fence panels and stuff to sell at motorcycle runs and drag races; The kind of stuff I've been making all along and I've been forging blades out of RR spikes and doing other blacksmith stuff ... I like pounding on cherry red steel with a hammer. I'm starting to work with more exotic metals so I will be using more and more TIG ... holding a tight arc is a little challenging for me since I only have one eye but I enjoy it, it's come in real handy for aluminum and SS.

Ain't heard for you in a bit.. Hope all is well. What type forge are you using to heat the spikes. Never had great success the time I tried. Might try again if you share or have some pictures.
Still racing I see..

I'm using a double burner open hearth forge ... I don't have any pics on this computer but if you go to my winkyenterprises page on face book you can find some ... forging just takes a little practice and a lot of pounding with a really big hammer. I use 2 and 3 lb cross peen and large ball peens.
