Settings (knobs & buttons) for muptipurpose units
Hey all,
I see that there's been some recent posts here and I'm looking for some clarity on all those knobs and buttons for these Chinese made multipurpose units. I have one purchased from a competitor to Everlast, but they all appear to be identical whether from Everlast, Longevity, Riland USA, Maos Electric, Ramsond or Mitech. I'm certainly not advocating for any specific brand, I'm just trying to figure out the settings on my Super 200P. All the above models of 180P, 200P, and 250P have the same control panels and have identical "manuals" if you can call them that. What I'm looking for is to create a settings table to help rookie users such as myself learn to use these machines... thus increasing their popularity and building more support, parts, service, product knowledge, etc.
I've attached a spreadsheet that lists what I think I know but I'm looking for feedback. I'm a mechanical engineer, so my life is in the details. I thought I'd use that focus to create a worksheet that gives the infrequent or rookie user the settings basics for running this machine in its various mode.
I am quite (very, very) impressed with Hildstrom's testing and write up on the Everlast Super 250P. I'm very much hoping Hindstrom will take a look and correct any errors in my table.
Also if others have tabular data that would help with power settings or other configuration data, I thought I'd paste that into the grey corner area once I get some info.
Well, it seems the site won't accept Excel Spreadsheets, nor PDFs.... so I've pasted it as an image. If you want the spreadsheet, PM me I guess
Many thanks in advance to any/all input.
To the hosts of this Everlast site. I'm glad to allow you to distribute/use this document as you see appropriate to your user base once it has been properly vetted.

Re: Settings (knobs & buttons) for muptipurpose units
Dan,
You can email the .xls to support@everlastwelders.com where I can read it and I will take a look.
Here is an old archive that is very good and hard to find on the net.

Also there is a "welders handbook" from home depot (in the USA) that will have lots of what you are looking for.
Hope that helps and I hope you allow us to include you work with out product and forum.
Re: Settings (knobs & buttons) for muptipurpose units
I am having trouble with the plasma cutter function on my Super160P.
The arc or jet, whatever you call it, does not want to stay "lit". It will
work for a second and then snuff out, the air keeps coming but no heat.
It is very difficult to get the jet to light off although I can see a small
spark from the tip to workpiece. I can hear sounds from inside the case
that also sound like arcing, when the thing is trying and failing to light
off. Every once in a while it will start up, just enough to make me think
it's not entirely busted.
I have tried drag starting, touch starting and holding a small gap, I
have tried a variety of air pressures and current settings, nothing seems
to help make it start reliably or maintain the arc. The 65PSI I've seen
recommended is no better luck than 40PSI or 80PSI. Current seems not
to matter.
Does any of this sound like a familiar problem? It seems like it should
not be that difficult. I am trying to cut 1/4" steel plate.

Dick,
A couple of things. When you post something here on the Everlast forums, make sure you make a "new post". You
have appended your post to another persons post and others will probably never see after the read the first person post and
answer.
On the plasma, can you try to cut at 20PSI and 25PSI, then PM me the results or PM (private message) me your phone number (I know it is Saturday, but tech support covered the forums 7 days a week). If you send a phone number I can call and help you with the unit. Make sure the ground clamp is on and connected good. I recall a fellow that had this problem and he was not aware when cutting you needed the ground clamp.
Re: Settings (knobs & buttons) for muptipurpose units
Dan,
Download the latest Everlast manual for the new Power ITIG. It has all the details on the knobs and buttons. It's our new line of welders and cutters, however the knobs work the same. http://www.everlastwelders.com/manuals
FYI: We have our own welder design as of Nov 2008 and started shipping them in Jan 2009. See our website for details. But the new manual controls still applies.
