Uh oh... it's the next big step toward 3-D printing a handgun that the media hyped up, not long ago.
Have you seen any output from a MIG 3-D? I just looked for pictures and didn't see any.
That was done years ago with robotic manipulators. Using a 3d printer is pretty mickey mouse.
The Rostock they used for the demo was kinda cheesy, but any accurate XYZ CNC transport or robot would do the job. The smallest feature size wasn't too bad. I would guess they use .023 wire. They did print a chain sprocket that was functional, with the system.
