I am wondering about the power tig 255 ext I know it is a great tig welder but I want a welder that will burn a 6010 and 7018 as well and I'm hoping that this welder will do it all also what are the differences in features between the 210 and the 255 is the 210 better Ie better ac features? I used to own a powerTig 250 but I sold it and wish i hadn't now. Thanx for all info.

I have the 255EXT and I have welded with the 7018,7014 and 6011 but not 6010 and they welded very well all were 1/8 rods I normally don't weld with the stick on the 255EXT but the jobs sometime are easer with a stick then Mig or Tig. hard to get into places. I did use my 250EX also before I got the 255EXT welded very similar the nice part of the 255EXT is you can save your settings.Quote:

6010 is close to 6011 it has been a long time since I used 6010 it is ease to get 7014 and 6013 most of the farmers that I do the welding have those two rods around the farm. The WP20 is not bad in the shop but I did notice that when I was out in the snow covered ground 20 to 25 deg. F. it was stiffer but still OK. I heard that Everlast will be coming out with a high flex torch soon. I have not uses the air cooled torch that came with the 255EXT. The pedal is a nice pedal I have been using it before the production models came out I was one of the tester too fix any problems before production started so far I am happy with it smooth, low profile and lighter in weight, it was nice of Duncan to give it to me to test now I have a spare I did drive over one with the fork lift one OOPS.Quote:

How much better is the 255ext compared to 250 ex? Is the wp20 rubber?
All of the ones I have that came with my Everlast look like plastic of some sort could be vinyl smooth and shiny but very flexible the power line is different maybe for the heat. For me I now like the 255EXT but it is more money I also like the memory button the different wave forms they sound different weld different but all look the same. The wave forms all work in standard wave AC and Advance wave AC (AC/DC). I tested them all on 1/8" aluminum and they all look the same the differences are in the speeds but not a lot. I want to try Helium mix some day to see the differentness in the welds.Quote:

On a 1/8" alluminum butt weld how wide is your weld the reason i ask is cause I could usually only get about a 1/4" wide bead and I played with everything from arc length to machine settings ac balance and ac freq the only reason I ask is because when I asked Jody Collier he said to strive for a 1/2" wide bead on 1/8" aluminum.
