Greetings from Pennsylvania

I'm pretty much a back-yard do-it-myself kind of guy. I live in PA with a handful of tools at the ready, but always looking to increase my arsenal. I have a few projects that I'll show and tell but I'm basically here to learn and get some ideas on future projects. And too, daddy needs a tig welder, but this is what I'm playing with below:

I also have a couple of Oxyacetylene torches and I borrow the use of a plasma cutter on occasion.

If you are looking for plasma, the power plasma 50 is a great machine. On tig. What metals and thickness? Itig-185 is a good start, 200dx is the next step up.

OR if not running heavy amps and duty cycle. the 256 has AC/DC TIG, 250 amps and a plasma cutter built into it.

I have the occasional need to do 1/2" aluminum which normally I mig weld. But I want to tig, not mig. So I'm looking to be in the 250 amp range and also, with a tig this size I can arc weld in DC rather than using my old buzz box which is A/C only. But I also need the low end, not because I'm welding beer cans or razor blades, rather because I do a lot of sheet metal work, from about 22 awg on up. I'm savin my pennies, when I'm ready to pull the trigger I'll give you guys a call.
