This a sweet little welder. I love how smooth it runs 6013, just like butter. It struggles with 6010 though unless you poke up the amps. Runs well with 6011 and 7018. Stay away from 7018AC, unless you like little pin holes in your beads. Makes a great TIG machine as well.

Welcome, Nils, congrats on the new machine! I read about the 7018AC rods in the other post, that's frustrating.
What kind of projects do you have going? Post up some pics if you can, and think about joining the current contest: still time to qualify.

Mike, you mentioned that E6010 wasn't too bad - does the 160 do 6010 without problems?
I have not ran them on the 160. The PA200 was design for the rod, so if you plan on burning a lot of them, I would recommend the PA200. I have ran them on other units, and it worked. Not sure if Mark has tried them on a 160STH?Quote:

The PA 200ST isn't available, from my understanding yet in the US. The ST version will only be 35% duty cycle, not the 60% of the old one. But Duncan says 6010 performance was supposed to be improved, though I haven't tested one yet.

Was eyeballing the PA200 for duty cycle, etc. Was thinking I could get away with a small box to lug around for stick (w/ E6010)/light TIG (can't do any "lugging around" with the ol' thunderbolt or syncro)!
