PowerTig 250EX first impression thanks to oleg

Greetings to everyone from the forum and owners of everlast,my name is john I am from Romania to be tig welder and I am very very pleased as Saturday July 20 after calling for almost 2 months I receive much needed PowerTig 250EX model 2013,I feel obliged to thank Oleg for his support and answers;but I do not want to forget, so thanks Everlast ''team'' the entire ''family'' Everlast.About the device what can I say ... looks super good, but is higher than I expected that doesn't mean it's bad, I say it's very good because it gives the impression of being a work well done.The test was only done at the electrode in soon to test and TIG.As it is normal to ask a few pics ... Hello to everybody,I feel compelled to return with some specs about my welding device, after I experienced intense emotions return with this specification Everlast tig 250ex power ( new model )is a super good.I have met some problems so that the "smart guys" who have charged the cylinder of argon they put something else in it ( I think argon CO2 mix );my intention was to I think the device would be to blame ... and I thought not only that you need to send the device back to the USA and to wait many weeks ... but now is well put and some photos-excuse the quality.Attachment 10753 Attachment 10754 Attachment 10755 Attachment 10756 Attachment 10757

Glad it worked out for you, John! Every once in a while we hear stories about getting the wrong gas- I hope the gas people took care of you.

I have never heard of someone getting the wrong gas (though it really doesn't surprise me that it happened!), but I went into the LWS a while back to exchange a cylinder of mix (Argon/CO2), and the guy working the dock tried to load a 250CF tank into my truck (I exchanged a 150CF tank). Of course I have a conscience and mentioned the error immediately (I'm sure they would have noticed it on their own sooner or later anyways), but it sure would have been nice to have the bigger cylinder.

It happens.. A friend of mine went to refill his mixed gas on his MIG and after we emptied that tank and he went to get it swapped out again, they discovered they gave him the wrong gas the time before. We wondered why it was welding different but just adjusted the machine and made use of the pure argon just fine.. The new tank that actually had the mixed gas was much easier to use though...

Yes I have had the wrong gas a few times so now I test it, if it 100% Argon I test weld a piece or aluminum and if weld OK I keep it and same with 75/25 Argon/Co2 it test the Mig on steel and see if it weld OK if not it goes back. Over the years I have learned not to trust what is on the tag. If it is Helium or Oxygen I have a tester for it. I can test the % of Helium in the Argon or if they put 1 or 2% Oxygen in the Argon/Co2/O2 trimix for Mig welding.

I never realized this was such a big deal. I can't ever remember having issues with getting the wrong gas, even at work, where we'd go through several bottles a month. I can remember having some bottles that would leak once in a while, but never the wrong gas. Now you guys have me nervous about going to the welding shop to exchange cylinders! :O

After you have gone thru hundreds of bottles of gas in 45 years of welding like I have the filling systems are getting better but it will happen it is operated by humans.

Like I mentioned, with MIG it wasnt too bad of a deal as we just changed a few things and kept going. I am sure it would be worse to try and TIG aluminum or something with the wrong gas.
