Help! Is my model I-Tig 200 dual voltage?

Hello everyone!


I've owned my iTIG 200 (analog) for nearly a year - love it! Don't see myself going back to Big Blue again for all that I do.

Have a few questions: Got a gig situated out of my little shop, but the "site" doesn't have any 240v access. I've searched and looked online, but have received conflicting information as to whether my iteration of the iTIG 200 is actually dual voltage or not (can get serial # if that helps). I've got a NEMA 6-50P on the end of the welder, and am decent with wiring - being extremely careful to keep from getting jolted with the Edison Medicine ;) ...

Could anyone shed light on this?
If it is dual voltage, I'm looking to work within a range of 50-80amps - what would my panel read (using torch switch, lot of crazy positions)?
What would the duty cycle be reduced to at 120v?

...pages 10 and 17, it appears that the ITIG 200 is 220/240 only, *not* dual voltage.

What "site" amenities do you have to work with? A clothes dryer outlet may work for you... maybe a generator?

That's what I was afraid of... It's work for a "newbie" sculpturist who has a somewhat large project & she has no weld skills. No 240v available on a rural site & since I rarely venture out of the shop with my gear, no clean output generator. Looks like I'll be doing it oxy/acetylene...

Have checked into the manuals, but didn't know if my model fell into a "gray" area. Didn't want to burn my power source up though finding out!

Is there a label where the power cord enters the machine?

The labels on the power source were a part of my confusion. Directly on the back panel, next to the cord lists: "1 x 110v/220v" in white lettering - while the top panel information lists 220v specs. The unit bears an inspection tag of 6/6/12. The manual I had downloaded when I first got the unit had what looked to be a an older design, hence part of my confusion.

Any ideas?

This is indicative of the fun, crazy stuff I get myself into at times!

A brief survey here of people with dual voltage models seemed to show that the white lettering was the thing that would tell you. The 220 only machines always listed 220 while the dual models listed 110/220. I would say you have a dual voltage model. Maybe give tech support a call to verify and get answers to your other questions. It was my impression that the dual voltage machines that came with plugs attached would also come with an adapter. Or did you install the plug? The wiring for 110 is sensitive as to hot/neutral so you need to be sure you have that correct, as for 220 they are both hot.
The manual situation is a little confusing. The ones that ship with the units are not as good as the ones downloaded from the web, but there have been many revisions that use the same name, so it's not always clear what the proper manual is for your unit. It would be nice if they used version or revision numbers or serial number ranges. As they grow I'm sure they will have to eventually, as all other companies do.

I agree - the paper manual that shipped with the unit did leave things to the imagination!

I know it's a completely different beast, but did notice that the "Brand X" Dynasty "converter" plugs went lug-to-lug. I'll give tech support a call. I thought I'd try this route first, in case anyone had experience in doing this.

Cornonda, you can download your manual right off our website. It is not the manual that came with your welder, and is US based.
It is dual voltage with the designation you listed. Be warned though output is less than 100 amps typically.

Rambozo, we DO use a method. Our units have a manufacture date on the unit. The basic manual corresponds to the closest date to the welder (preceding the manufacture date).

That's a relief! It's going to be a big help on that job - some twists & turns, confined weld areas, and the like.
