Editing registration?

I registered on the new Home Page(which looks great by the way) and they asked for my Email address. Now my email address is needed to register as my user name on the new home page...'cept, now, trying to sign in on the forum, my Email address comes up and is not recognized as a valid user name. I have to sign in and erase the '@gmail.com' part. which becomes tedious. How can I edit to have the same user name on both sites?

I am also a computer noob so I am not likely to understand much in that department either.:confused:

I assume its done for security reasons. Yes, even I have to get used to having more passwords, and screen names thanks to many low lifes that like to cause harm to other peoples computers, bank accounts and other public records.
