As the title says, I notice the everlast are on there own when the rate there duty cycles, I looked at cigweld and Lincoln electric and both the, rate there duty cycles at full power but not everlast? So wanting to know what the duty cycle is at 200 amps on the imig200

Not sure where you are looking, but Lincoln rates their 180 amp MIG at 130A/20V/30%. And the Millermatic 200 is 150A/21.5V/20%. Virtually all MIGs seem to be rated less than full power and with pretty low duty cycles. I'm guessing because they are CV machines rather than CC.Quote:

Heavier MIGs do have a difference but say the smaller Millermatics and Lincoln PowerMIGs etc, are designed this way. Compare to our 205 or 250P which is rated at full amps with a 35% duty cycle at that current level. You will see a difference in power. We do not assign it a duty cycle at the maximum because it is a theoretical surge current.
IF you want a heavy duty 200 amps, look at the 205 or 205P.
i was looking at the cig weld transmig 175 amp
Duty Cycle: MIG(GMAW/FCAW):25% @175A,22.8V(40C,10mins,)
Stick(MMAW):20%@175A, 27.0V(40C,10mins),
TIG(GTAW):25% @ 175A, 17.0V(40C, 10mins)
and the other one i was looking at was the lincoln 180c and they rate it at 20% @180
both rated at full power, so can any one give me a rating at 200amps?

ON the 200 imig you could expect about 10% at max. But that is not official because as I said, it is temporary surge current that is not going to reach that amount of time...it's all theoretical. What's more important is to compare the RATED duty cycle, not the max amp duty cycle for a MIG. That is what is real, consistent and what will be used.
The main reason they give the transmig, and the equivalent TA fabricator 181 a max duty cycle rating is NOT primarily for the MIG in general, but for the other processes present.
The Imig 200 is a good mig welder. I've ran mine real hard especially over the last year. If your needing 200 amps of power then you need a mig welder with more power. When I bought my mig200 it was perfect for me, but since business has slowly grown; I need something with more power and duty cycle. You will spend more time waiting on the duty cycle light to shut off than welding. Go with a 205, 205p or 250 you will be happier in the long run. I never planned on welding anything over 1/4 or 3/8 thick material, but now there are times when I need a mig for 1/2 inch. All in all it's a great welder, but I would never buy a welder and then run it at its max power all the time. Jump up and you will be happier.
