I just got a powertig 185 micro. on the welder i only see markings for 220-240 volts. how can i be sure the thing will work on 110. i want to be sure before i plug it in and damage something. i have tried e mailing everlast support but cant seem to get a reply.
Just a thought, but check the owners manual.
Yea I did check the owners manual but it's still un clear. I bought the unit from amazon and it was advertised as dual voltage but I don't see any markings on the welder to indicate 110. I'm not sure if I was shipped the correct unit.
The online manual covers the connection for 120V

Black is hot, white is neutral. Don't mix it up. Check the outlet you are connecting to also.... sometimes they are wired incorrectly
I can understand why you don't want to just wire it up, plug it in and turn it on. Fundamental question to ask is, "Did you order a dual voltage PT185 micro?". They don't come dual voltage unless you order it that way or you bought one that explicitly stated it was dual voltage.Quote:

i got mine from amazon and mine is dual voltage....well i know it works on 120v but havent tried 220 yet since i dont have an 220 outlet!
OK, mine is a field test model so it may be different than yours (great welder by the way). Where the cord comes out of the back of the welder, mine states:
1 x 110v/220v
I noted in the owners manual "220V, (120/240V OPT)" so looks like there are two models and dual is optional. He is right to question what he received.
