The New Powerplasma 50 question

So I'm back again seeking advice from the community. Alright so my father received his replacement model powerplasma a while back and had not gotten to use it (I believe) for a while. So we hooked it up and started cutting, but after the first cut the post flow would not turn off and wouldn't allow us to cut even though the tip was cool to the touch. After checking the setting it turns out the machine was set to continuous flow. Thus we changed it to timed flow, and turned the machine off waited a few seconds and turned it back on. When it came on the air flow was just like the post flow, and it wouldn't stop even after a few minutes (the timmer only goes to 60sec). So we don't know what's going on or why it's doing what it's doing, and would like to know if it's because of some setting somewhere else or what?

PS we're running the machine at 60psi and 21amps if you need to know that.

Did you check to make sure you had tightened the electrode and that it moves freely up and down with slight pressure? When you turn the machine off does the air flow stop? Can you still strike an arc? You have Tech supports number, please give them a call. This is your first line of defense. Use it to your advantage. If you can't call, pm, Mike or me your number and we will call you. But it sounds as if you may have some difficulties in understanding how the unit works. But again, it may be some shipping issues.

Try two things more: Slap the unit with your hand on the side. If there is some obstruction in the solenoid valve or if your air is not dry, or some oil or some other debris has entered it, this will find out if it is in the solenoid or not.

But first, make sure you have your switch set to 2 T so it will fire just by holding the switch on the torch down. If it is in CNC mode, the air will continue to run.Flip them once or twice and test all switches in both positions to make sure they are working and may not have gotten turned upside down in when they were pushed into the panel in final assembly. This has happened a time or two, as the assembly came down the line the switch after it was wired, got twisted and inserted upside down. A small flat tip screw driver and gentle pressure can work the switch out carefully and it can be snapped back in.
