Just a matter of time. The biggest problem with the tig finger is the price. $10 for a piece of fiberglass sleeve (less than $1 in material) is way too high. If he had priced them for $4-6 he would have probably sold 5x as many and companies would not have been so eager to butcher his cash cow.
TIG finger sales have always been about supporting WT&T.com, rather than an income source. I agree $10 is high for what you get _directly_, but indirectly we've all (or at least many of us have) benefitted from WT&T. I just checked and didn't see a "donate" link at WT&T, maybe there ought to be.
I agree 100% Dave, and there should be a donate button. I know how much time goes into planing, making, editing, and uploading those videos. Not to mention the cost of equipment, supplies,..... It adds up big time and WT&T.com should be supported for their efforts. I know I have learned a lot from watching them. That wasn't what I was getting at by my comment. My point was from an accountant stand point (strictly looking at the numbers).
I just ordered a three pack of TIG fingers... That Jody guy has helped me a lot.
Jody's "fingers" Have a lot more wearability, and probably insulate better. But Jody is Savvy. He knows what he is doing.
Yeah, I noticed the Amazon version is basically a finger cot, while Jody's is sleeve that's doubled up and tucked into itself meaning there are (or can be) 3 layers of material between you and the heat.Quote:

I thought the price was a bit high till they got here and I used them for the first time. I've used them for MIG quite a bit and the other night, for bracing my hand on an exhaust pipe while notching a flange with a die grinder. Wouldn't trade them for anything and will probably get a few more to have on hand.
Oddly, I was talking to a friend about something similar the other night, he had a new idea and wanted to patent it, etc. I suggested we prototype it, set up a production run, flood the market then re-brand as 'the original' and to hell with the copycats, let them make an inferior product cheaper and sell to those we couldn't reach. We'll get a first bite, get the 're-purchase' crowd when they don't like the cheap one or it breaks, and referrals. Let the big boys play with the lawyers and their crap through patent and trademark and whatnot.
I believe those black stallion ones have been on the market for over a year. I bought the three pack from Jody about 8 months ago... his come with stickers and everyone knows that stickers make imports go faster.

I have both those products and prefer the Tig Finger from Jody. It insulates better and just works better overall. I have three sets of them and I will not weld without my Tig Finger. I even use it when I gas and mig weld. Just a great product and it supports WeldingTipsandTricks.
