Is that a diesel? Looks in pretty good shape. How many hours on it? 30A of 3ph 50 of single should power almost any shop equipment.
yes diesel . has 6245 hours on it
I couldn't tell if that was a 6, 8 or 0. 245 hours would have been too much to ask for. 6245 isn't bad if it was taken care of. Any idea what's wrong with it? It has the same kinda glow plug indicator as an old MBZ.
the guy i got it from said it worked fine till he jump started the battery since battery was dead . after that it wouldn't start . i opened the front control panel and found some burnt wires . he felt stupid since it says in the manual dont jump battery could cause ecm damage or wiring damage , took the battery that was in it and tested it it was junk battery was shorted inside . i put a good battery in it and turn over fine now , . going to change the oil and filter . and fix the burnt wiring to see if it runs . Cant believe i only payed 200 bucks for it lol . i asked him what he was going to do with it yesterday and he said just sell it since he had 2 other generator , when he told me he want only 200 bucks i payed him on the spot 200 bucks .
Wow, what a deal. Sounds like it shouldn't be a big deal to get running. It has an ECM for the motor? Doesn't look like that kind of tech. Or is it just an electronic speed controller like a lot of diesel welders have? From the injection lines, it looks like an old distribution pump type system. And that glow plug system is really low tech, with a glow coil as an indicator. Of course that way it can do dual duty as a cigarette lighter, too.
yes the ecm controls the fuel pump and engine speed . has a mechanic injection pump, has a kubota diesel engine there made very well and last along time
well put some fuel in it and a good battery turned over like 3 times and fired rite off and ran , but when you let off the start mode the engine stops running , check the repair manual says its the throttle hold coil or fuel solenoid or ecm speed controller . engine sounded tight and had great oil pressure
it must have been sitting at a farm or were horses are the hole thing is full off horse apples inside .lol must ove had little critter using it as a home
yes horse #### lol found some wires chewed on also
Thats still a great deal. One you dont run across very often. Do you know how many years old it is?
Some guys have all the luck. Sweet find.
most likely from the 80 or 90 . well pulled the ecm and found a burnt fuse fixed it and now it runs but no ac output . pulled the generator brush cover . had a mouse nest inside lol . found one condenser that popped so getting 3 new condensers and a new bridge rectifier . engine runs really smooth and quiet . oil pressure is 65 to 70 psi oil pressure
Remember, if it hasn't run in quite awhile, you might have to flash the stator to get output, if it's anything like the old Lincolns and Onans the exciter depends on residual magnetism to get going.
yes will need flashing since has a blown capacitor , since a part going to replace all the capacitors and put in a new bridge rectifier since cheap parts . all the parts was only like 50 bucks . have one of these tools to flash it works neat Attachment 7601
well its runs great . got down to changing oil and filter . replacing fuel hoses since cracked and drain and refill on cooling system and thermostatic. ug and all the hose poop lol . just waiting for the capacitors and rectifier. cant believe all the wires chewed from the mice living in it lol
