Powermaster 205
I have a question on the settings. I just want to use the foot pedal with no pulse. What are the correct settings for the knobs to do that? I assume that if I want to range from 5 - 100 amps I set the the pedal knob at 5 or half. What about the base, peak pulse, up slope ,down slope ,etc? It also seems to have a very aggressive hot start. What controls that?

The PowerMaster 205 is the economy model and has no true "off" button the machine. Now, with that said, you simply lower your pulse amps all the way to the left.
It would be a good idea to down load the manual, as this covers many of the aspects of this machine, if you haven't done so already.
The features like up slope and down slope are overridden when the foot pedal is used. The foot pedal should only be used in 2T however as that is how it is designed. You may set the post flow though as it is not in conflict with how the foot pedal is designed to work.
The "hot start" is actually the High Frequency start. Most people compliment the start charachteristics as it is strong, but still controllable. Some change in intensity can be made by adjusting the spark gap in the HF board. This will require some slight experimentation, as it will also affect starting ability.

The down slope does work with the foot pedal. I am not sure about the up slope. Is this a problem? I have played with different settings and the best I have had still had a slight waver or pulse at the low end of amperage.

If you're using a foot pedal, I would turn off the down slope if you do not want it. But I would leave a little post gas and hold over the end of the weld until it stops when you reach the end of the weld. You will like the results.

Mike:
Iwas wondering if you had a chance to try your foot pedal out. I took the cover off of mine and it looks like it is all attached. You are right, it could be made a little more high tech. Let me know if there is some upgrades available.

Hey Rick,
Sorry for the delay. I did not have a pedal for my LX. You should call into sales and get another pedal on the way. That will give us the answer on the range.
