Here is a pic of an old hospital cart that i found at the scrap yard for 50 cents a pound, i have used it for many things and put the new tig and plasma on it until i get my NEW Hybrid dual purpose welding cart done.The new cart will be aluminum and a dual purpose cart also.I purchased the material yesterday and will start next week.

No offense, but that scares the crap outta me. That bottle, laid over, valve projecting out... wouldn't see me near it. I'd take the bottle and strap it to a wall near where you weld for now.

Even built a piece around it to protect things from rolling into the hole. Top shelf of the HF three shelf cart protected the valve thoroughly.
Might as well add that although you can dispense Oxygen and Argon from a sideways bottle (not legally, but it will work), you absolutely cannot do this with acetylene, CO2, or any other gas that is stored in a liquid format. DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!

And if you transport Acetylene horizontally or non-vertically, it must REST before it can be used or bad things will happen. CO2 not too long, but Acet isn't just an empty open bottle, so things have to settle again.Quote:

Its fine only gets moved by me, i have seen first hand what they do if the valve is turned on and the regulator gets snapped off. on a 200 cu ft bottle it will turn in a circle for approx 28 minutes on the floor. It clears a lot of dust out of a shop also. I had an employee try to roll a Millermatic 300 across an assembly line track the safety chain came lose the bottle fell just before the welder and snapped the pipe nipple off the regulator and around we went.Quote:

Having worked in hospitals for the last three decades I've rescued a few carts from trash bins and put them to better use. My motto ... if it will work ... use it LOL.
It will be fine , for know the end stays under my 4x6 5/8" steel welding table, i just move it to use the plasma, My new cart will have it in the upright position like my Miller 200 or my torch cart. I know it always puts that thought in the back of your mind. I get a little more nervous with the small 20 pound propane bottles than anything else.
