**Steel rack for my shop**
I got tired of tripping over steel in the floor so I decided to build a rack to hold it all.....not as easy as I thought it would be. (what is)

I used a combination of MIG and TIG to complete this job.
All metal used is 11ga. The uprights are 2" square with a 2" x 4" plate in the front to keep things from rolling off. The basket was made with a mix of 3 1/2" flat, 2" flat, and expanded metal for the bottom.
I used 4" thinwall pvc for the wall storage.

I also needed a way to hold the bottom of the PVC in place and didn't want to go to much trouble so this is what I came up with....

Very nice. I like the expanded metal shelves, they can hold small pieces without being crud catchers. From the fastener locations, I'm guessing that they bolt into something more substantial than the sheet metal wall?

Yeah, there are 6x6 posts in the wall. I used 3/8"x 4 1/2" lags. This is probably the most I'll ever have on the rack because I can order metal and have it delivered the next day so there's no reason to sit on a bunch of metal. The stuff I have will be used in my Next project!!!

I like making stuff!!!! It doesn't pay well but it's fun


The reason I left an opening on the left side of the rack is for my Harbor Freight 7x12 band saw!!! Might not get it soon but I Will get it!!

OK, that answered the question I didn't ask! :D

I need to rig me up some shelves. Don't have a lot of floor space so going vertical is becoming a necessity.

I double what winky says. Something I need to do when I get some time. Right now they just lean against the ceiling joists.

This made a Huge difference!! Everything is up and out of the way AND, I can put my small stuff in the baskets so it free's up part of a closet!
Was well worth the 5lbs. of sweat and burn't thumb!! :D

Looks really nice... Reminds me of the story of the guy who buys a wallet so he will have a place for his money... Then he has no money to put in the wallet...

BTW If you have to much metal and you are tripping over it... I will send you my address....

Sure another clean shop you really know how to rub it in. Nice work
