I just got my 205 hooked up and running and aside from my regulator having a small pin hole in it it welded very nice but i didnt want to run it to much and waste the gas from the leak,my question is what is the thickest material someone has sussefully welded and what is the longest weld someone has ran on this machine without duty cycle being a problem,just trying to get a good idea of what i am going to be able to do with this machine?
have them send you a new regulator , the thickest i have weld so far with my 205 is 1/2 steel took 2 pass with 35 wire . as for duty cycle don't think you will ever get there . I welded 1/4 plate one day for about a hour and never stopped from reaching duty cycle turn off
Well you can run it wide open for 3.5 minutes out of a 10 minute period without stopping. My Dad worked for a LWS and they had a customer who thought they were bumping the duty cycle on their machines (Steel building mfg). They came in and timed the welders without them knowing what they were doing. They did this for a week and no welder welded long enough to bump the duty cycle. No one ever welded over a minute straight, and I think 45-50 seconds was the longest anyone welded without stopping.
yes as for welding and hour like i posted i took breaks to align stuff . so it was not a constant 1 hour of welding

If you only have the one tank and regulator, might want to look at the Clarke clones Harbor Freight has. I want to say it was under $30 with the 20% off coupon way back when. Small price to pay if you loose a regulator and you can be up and working today while waiting on ours to get there. Just a thought as they can get broken with the pressures they are under or they get knocked..Quote:

Smith is a good one. Sometime I hear of hairline cracks from over tightening. I have 5 in use and been lucky, never had a leak. Did have a hose blow off once.Quote:

I like the PowerPlasma 50 myself. What is the max thickness you are cutting also, much much cutting a day? I use a PP60, but switching back to a PP50 since it a bit is smaller (in weight and size).Quote:

You are talking about the SC50 and PP50 of course. I mentioned the PP50 and PP60 (I think) in my post.Quote:

yes the SC50 and PP50 have the pp50 now with The IGBT technology and cnc plug on back like the s45 torch cuts better don't like the 60ACPA torch eats consumables == i stay away from the mossfet units . another nice unit if want to do dc tig and have a nice plasma cutter is the PowerUltra 250P neat little welder
One thing I have figured out after getting the PP70 (A81 torch), it's best to get the amperage close to what you will be cutting the most. The smallest tips for the 70 amp plasma is 1.0mm. For 19 gauge sheet metal, the .6 or .7 tip on the Matco plasma cuts cleaner. I think I will get another torch in a smaller amperage for thin metal.
The PP70 is 100 times better machine, but the tip is just too big for thin stuff.
